Kaaz LSD in my GSR. I need some help.
Ok here's the situation. My GSR has a Kaaz 1.5 Way LSD in it. When I purchased the car it was already in. This is the only thing i've never truly understood with the car. Limited Slip Differential I understand. But when im turning from a stop or at low speeds the front tires feel like they are dragging and bouncing up and down. Is that normal with the LSD. Or is there something I can change to fix it. Its extremely annoying and makes for a bad sound when around people. I just want to get that noise fixed or do something about it without removing the LSD. The owner before me told me thats what the LSD does to the car. I just took his word for it because its the only thing I don't understand. The rest of the car I could build, haha. Thanks guys. I really appreciate any advice. Its pissing me off.

Hmm To my understanding.. that doesn't seem all that right.
I have a stock JDM itr tranny.. so OEM lsd.. and it doens't do that at all. What an LSD does it make surethat one wheel does spin faster than the other one, so it's a great cornering tool, since it helps the wheel that's usually dragging behind, actually spin.. which makes your car take the corner a lot faster.
If you're getting wheel hopping.. then it could be a bad shock/spring setup.. also maybe your bushings are done... try to see if it's only during the corners.. or if it's also when you ride on humps/bumps/pot holes.. etc.
Hope this help..
ps: if anyone has any flames about my explanation.. well post something that explains it better.. mr I'm a mechanic and know it all better

the Kaaz LSD is a clutch type. that noise is from its normal operation and the noise will mostly go away with time though.

what kind of trans fluid are you using?
you might try running some GL-5 80w-90 with some Ford Friction modifier (mistabone recommened this to me). i'm running this combo currently and my LSD has really quieted down.

So, If i drive in that figure out for 30 minutes this noise will subside or become less annoying? Im just hoping that its not permanent. thanks.
Right now I try my best to take corners in neutral and hold the turn until my wheel is straight then I press the gas. This is the only way i've figured out to keep away from the noise. All along I thought it was wheel hop not the clutch plates rubbing together. i always slowed down because I was afraid to hope off a turn and into the ditch. So its not wheel hop?????....thanks again. Can't wait to cure this damn noise!

Yeah, that's normal for the KAAZ LSD. I have the KAAZ lsd and I've learned to deal w/the noise. It doesn't do it all the time and over time the noise has reduced. Sucks when people look at you and they think something is wrong w/ your car. Oh well, at least it works great.
After reading that article i noticed that it said to drive in that figure 8 type course for about 30 minutes. Should I try this? Or am i wasting my time. Thanks guys. Just was wondering if anyone had done this. Im trying my hardest to get rid of the sound and still have the benefit of the LSD

YES! you should do the figure 8 break-in if your Kaaz is new. it will help the longevity it will work better in the long run. hope you haven't driven too much on it already.

Pat I already did that figure 8 break in for you when I got the LSD....so dont worry about it the noise is normal.

the noise seems a little louder than i assumed it would be and has a distinct clicking noise. If there wasnt an lsd in there i would say bad CV joint. Then maybe its part CV and part LSD that is making the sound
Pat took the car over the other day and had me take a listen. Id like to see him throw some of that for friction **** in there, and if the sound is still there try a new axle

Once I put in the GM syncromesh tranny fluid Ill let you guys know if it stopped the clutch plate rubbing when I turn. Its an awful sound. Really can't get used to it. So hopefully this stops it. Audipwr is helping me out with some things on the car. Probably will install my ITR cams once I get them.
I use the ford friction modifier for my kaaz lsd. It still chatters but it isn't as bad when the ford fluid is in it. Also, the percent lock can be adjusted so it will slip more. This more slippage will make less noise because the lsd isn't locking up fully. Mine is at 100% lock up. It jerks the wheel at slow speed manuvering.
I noticed this morning that when I first get in the car or when its cooled down that the rubbing isn't there basically at all. No noise whatsoever. But once the car gets warmed up a bit the lsd comes to life so to say. So its definately the LSD and once I get that transmission fluid I should be all set
