save fuel/milk money
I meant to say: tried or thought of putting an hf head onto a 1.6 soch d16a for the purpose of reducing fuel cost (of course the computer for the 1.5 hf goes with the head also) I'm asking because i got a spare soch zc & thought of the neat economy trick if it would work without any real problem.

I don't expect much in life,
Just a little beer...
Just a little food...
And some time just a little***
Would probably work with no problems other than maybe some timing issues that could be resolved with a little advancing or something, but other than the simple fact that its the dumbest thing I have heard, lol, I wouldnt do it. I mean you wouldnt be saving all that much gas. Not like your gonna be under 35 with a SOHC ZC.
modding for fuel economy huh. it might work but it would be more fuel efficient to switch to the whole hf engine. or hell why not just swap in a insight powerplant. ull be puttin down at least 50 mpg to the wheels.
but seriously honda designed the hf engine for maximum fuel efficiency so swaping the fuel effiecient head onto a block made for semi performance will yeild some problems.on the other hand it shouldnt be much different then swapping a performance head onto a gas mileage motor. the hf head is 8 valve though so that could pose a problem. bottom line. try it i think ull be the first one

the hf head would work. the only issues that could come up would be the routing of some coolant hoses, from the intake manifold flange that ordinarily go to the throttle body. the hf head being 8 valve would not be a problem, there are 16 valve reliefs on an Si motor. there would be no chances of piston to valve clearances, the si reliefs are for a bigger cam. not that i have done this particular setup, but my opinion is that this would be possible. i doubt it would be worthwhile in the end, as you would have spent money on an engine to make it more fuel effecient. isn't the point saving money? just use the sohc zc motor, and don't beat on it. it will be fine on gas.

That does not work too well. You will have to push the car to get it to go anywhere. That tranny is designed for low end tourque, so you dont have to rev the motor out. I was getting the same fule milage with an hf tranny that I am gettng with an si tranny.

Why? all the trouble and hassle to loose hp to save a couple of gallons, seems stupid, build up your motor to be more efficient, tune up, adjust the valves, that kinda ****, plus u get more power, the hf motor plain old sucks, Ive never seen one that has done anything but 63hp, i got a B16a and i got two weeks ago 37mpg i was on the thruway and i have an ls tranny, not bad but around town i get 28ish, so i cant see the point of an hf swap
