Default CRX B16 QUARTER MILE TIME

I ran my b16 powered crx si last night for the 1st time last night and the best time I could pull was 15.0@ 94mph, on 17 inch konig wheels. I was launching around 6000 rpm. Here is the list of my mods:

1st gen b16 w/ ys1 trans.
skunk2 intake manifold, DC header w/2nd o2 sensor spliced with the 1st.
01 itr cams
8 lb. flywheel, stg 4 clutch
unorthodox race pulley
Aem fuel rail, regulator.
msd 6al ignition w/cap and coil
pwo mugen chipped ecu 9k redline
A bit of positive camber in the rear

I think I should be atleast mid 14's with this setup, I can pull on stock wrx's, and mustang gt's on the blvd. Both are 14 second cars from the factory right? Can somone tell me what it is that I am doing wrong?

I don't know what you're doing wrong but I think you should be doing mid-low 14's with that setup

That mph indicates mid 14s. Maybe low 14s on slicks, but it would have to be some good driving. Ditch those 17s in favor of some stock sized rubber (or better). Also lower your launch rpm...a lot. On street tires, try launching in the 4-4500rpm range. Don't drop the clutch, let it slip a little with street tires until you feel them grab. A decent driver should ba able to pull 2.1-2.1 60' times like cake.

sounds like a pretty good set up you got. is it gutted out at all or did you have anything heavy in the car? was it really hot out when you were running?

id say first and foremost, GET SOME SMALLER WHEELS!!!!

secondly you need to get your 60' times down a good bit.

i was able to pull low 2.2's on very shitty nitto 450's and ran a 14.6 at 93.
so with your mph you can be in the mid 14's

I have a full interior, I took out my spare tire. It was also like 90 degrees that day. There was an srt neon that could only pull a 14.7 out of 5 runs. I thought they ran like 14 flat.

first off you need to get better 60 foot times, launch a lttle lower, and shift right beloww your redline, maybe around 7600 rpm and go to the track as much as you can practice is the key.

My buddy has a b16 88 Hatch with only cams, a Vafc and no exhuast, a good tune and he runs 13.3 So something is definitely not right, practice is pretty much the key here i think.

did you run this at pittsburgh raceway park?? i think that track seems a little slow. i could only pull a 14.6 @93 last week and tonight. it was also hot as hell out and pretty humid.

i think im done drag racing for the summer. maybee ill try again in the fall with cooler weather. time to hit the autoX's and open lapping days

My best suggestion is too lose the 17's. They add too much weight, have a lot of inertia, and take quite a bit of torque that b16's don't have to get them moving.

id like to know the same thing. since a b16 makes all its power up top, wouldnt you want to rev it out to just before your rev limmiter so you are making the most power possible in the next gear? maybee i just dont know my b16's very well

get some new wheels man and practice you launch. I use to run 14.4 with my 91si back in the days with the same setup you have with slicks.

i was running on new falken azenis's last night and i took 100lbs worth of stuff out from last week. and i could still only pull a best of 14.6 i was very consistant with 14.6's and 14.7's all night, but i was hoping for low 14's with my set-up.

i think ill try in late august or september when it's cool and not humid.

anyone know what the correction for 1200 feet above sea level is????

yep, you do want to rev it out just before your rev limiter...i do, i usually shift around 8600-8800 rpm. maybe he isn't shifting quick enough, that can effect his et as well. but his 60 foot time is a key also.
