Default Exhaust question

I was wondering if anyone knew whether or not all civic mufflers are the same internal diameter? Reason I'm asking is beacause I want to run 2 1/4" tubing from the cat back, but don't want the attention that an aftermarket muffler gets, therefore wanted to run a stock honda muffler.

Any ideas?
Thanks!

You could weld on a muffler from one of the higher displacement cars maybe. I've heard people weld on s2k mufflers and love the sound.

The only thing that's stopping me from that is that the po-po in San Diego will give you a hard time, even if your exhaust is completly legal and compliant with all CA **** smog laws. I've even had an officer tell me that whenever she sees a Honda with a "Shiny Muffler" she pulls it over, throughly checks under the hood etc, and will give them a modified exhaust ticket.
So I'd prefer to keep a stock muffler out the back. You think an Si muffler flows a little better an the stock CX one I have?
Thanks.

that's a good idea. surely a 240 hp car has better flowing mufflers than a 160hp car. [s2000 vs 99SI+]

i've never heard that from a stock si.

here's my spoon street axleback:

it's the ultimate aftermarket sleeper exhaust. the tip is only about 2.75", and the sound is unnoticeablely nice.

somewhat common stock muffler swap would be the ITR/CTR muffler.... they look very nice but have that stock look. or a dynomax/magnaflow muffler painted black...

if ur planning on a 2 1/4" cat. back to a stock muffler ur not going to gain much..since the internal tubing is less than 1 3/4 s..i would suggest replacing ur stock muffler with a alum. mag. 2 1/4" in and out..not the silvery stainless..the alum. with 2 inch tip would nt attract much attention and give u true 2 1/4" cat. back

I think an ES Oval would be the best choice.

I haven't been pulled over yet, my brother has been pulled over a few times by the La Mesa PD. I talked to another La Mesa officer who told me that she'll pull over any import with a shiny muffler. So you might want to keep an eye out for the cops in La Mesa

Stupid popo. I would just forget about the exhaust, no point becasue you are going to run through a stock muffler. So it will be very restricted. Is there any legal mods you can do to your car in CA? Or is driving illegal period.

driving is illegal here in CA. We just fix up our cars and let them sit in the garage.

Doesn't a stock 00 Si muffler or GSR muffler flow better than a stock CX muffler? I don't want anything badass, just a little better than the stock butthole piping and muffler.
