many people ask this question, but i would like to know everyone's opinion

i have a 01 gsr, i have fireball exhuast, dc ceramic 4 - 2 -1, and aem cai. im not really into suspension becuase i dont see a need cause im not making sharp turns, or do i really need it? someone enlighten me. im just looking to spank up gts's cuz one of my friends has one and i lost to him. next time we race its gonna be at the track and i want to humiliate him... but any input is welcome...

 

some tires would help, the GTS has decent tires stock, and the gsr tires stock suck. Tires wont just help you corner better but they'll help your launch.

 

Do some suspension work. Suspension will always help. If you're racing drag strip, lowering CAN give you more traction (therefore, quicker launch & faster). if you're doing an autox then suspension will really help you out & let you run that much faster. Plus, it's safer. All the engine in the world ain't gonna help you out if some redneck pulls out in front of you in his big 4X4. Just suspension & brakes. IMO, they're the most important mods to make.

 

One of the best bang for your buck suspension mods is the Type R rear swaybar. You can get all the parts for around $150 and the installation isn't very hard (so I hear)...

You may want to skip shocks/springs now, but good tires and a rear sway bar would definately help.

 

what exactly is a type r sway bar? do you know where i can get it online?

 

if you get a set of springs and shocks, i guarantee your car WILL be faster, and you will be able to take off way better.

but..the best thing to do is..learn how to drive your car. Good drivers win races..

now go eat that GTS. unless it's some factory freek, you should be able to take it. i've humiliated GTS...

 

Definitely get new high-performance tires. You will be faster than you are right now.

 

Better tires will make a world of difference no matter what you want to improve...acceleration, handlling, braking.... slap on a good set of rubber and everything will be better....

Shocks and springs ? Get em.... even though you only seem to be doing 1/4 mile running.... stiffer spring rates and stiffer shocks (especially in the rear) will improve your acceleration, launch and reduce braking distances... The key ? Get adjustable shocks !!!

im assuming that the gts's that they are all talking about is the celica gts
I didnt know they made corolla gts models
