My friend has an 86 accord with 230,000 miles and the clutch just went out and possibly some other things. He wants to keep the car and just get a new motor. Just curious if anyone knows which series would be the easist to deal with and least expensive. Thanks.

 

For 3rd gens, the B series swaps right in (B16/B18/B20). PlaceRacing makes mounts and wiring harnesses for the swap. If it's a DX or LX, you'll first need to change some other stuff (fuel pump and lines, wiring harnesses, etc) to convert to EFI from carb. If it were me I'd just swap in another A20, that's the easiest and least expensive, and probably most reliable too.

 

why not just replace the clutch and leave the motor alone as there is nothing wrong with it according to what you have said......
