Shocks and struts for 1986 civic hatchback (for SOLO II autocross)
I'm new to autocross and just picked up a honda civic Si hatchback (1986). It'll be a great car for solo II (G stock) as soon as it gets some suspension work. It needs shocks, struts, and springs. Can someone recommend something and where I can get it? Thanks.
I recommend a rule book as the modifications you listed are going to take you out of stock unless you use standard OEM parts.

Koni makes a great shock/strut for this car. Springs are not changeable under stock rules.
A complete bushing refresh and new ball joints will really help out as well. The ball joints are legal for stock. Make sure you stick with OEM bushing material if you plan on doing that and staying in GS.

I bet they do, but I don't think I can afford them. I was thinking KYB sports. I only paid 350 for the car, so I'm trying to do this grassroots cheap.
there's no such thing as 'kyb sports'
the only thing offered for a '86 hatchcrap is KYB GR-2's which are just factory replacements.
Konis will be $500 or so from tire rack ( http://www.tirerack.com/suspen...2&y=2 ), probably a few $$ cheaper from http://www.shox.com

Thanks madhatter.
if I decide to get into STS, what bushing material should I go with, or does it have to be OEM for that, too?

You can have poly bushings in STS.
