I'm using Castrol GTX 10W-30 conventional oil for now while I'm breaking in my rebuilt B18C. I'll be switching over to Mobil 1 synthetic after logging the appropriate number of miles.

i have d16y8...what do you recommend? plus im planning to boost...do i need to change to different kind of oil? im currently using 10w30.

 

I use 10w30.....I hear that it's the most common to use on most Si's

There's quite a few OEM 'high performance' cars that use Mobil 1 stock

 

Mobil 1 15-50 Kinda heavy but its in a JDM B16 that gets run pretty hard and i dont know what its life was like b4 it got to me.

i would say anything syn i loke mobil 1 the best. but reagular oil if ur pushing ur engine hard and have alot of mods then syn is the way to go for sure . pluss u wouldnt have to change ur oil for alot longer

 

I use Castrol Syntec 10W30 and before that I used Penzoil 5W30 which is what it came with from the factory. As the motor gained mileage I switched to the 10W30 because it's thicker and better for higher mileage engines. I switched at around 50,000 miles.

cheapest 20w 50 i can find. I have a 195k mile d16z6 that I am driving on right now until I can justify a 2500 dollar b16 swap.

Shell Rotella 5W40 Synth

 

Mobil 1 5w-30 full synthetic since 12k miles. Now 36k miles..
Thinking about trying the Shell Rotella 5w-40 synthetic..
