Default thinking about buying a B18C1 for 400...

I know this sounds crazy, but I "heard" that this guys has two GSR engines for sale and desperately needs money. Supposedly he will get rid of the for like 400 each. I don't know what it all comes with, I'm trying to get in touch with the dude. My question is what should I look for when buying this engine? Vin number? Condition? I'm very new at this, and kinda nervous. I just need to know how NOT to get ripped.

Thanks!

If it isn't stolen, which I doubt, and is a complete engine then buy it.

do it the smart way...run the vin number for the engine... if it comes up stolen report it to the cops...if you catch a thief, you have my props and the backing of everyone else on this board!!!

and...if it comes up clean...a $400 dolla gsr motor is a damn good deal!

ok here is the deal. I talked to my cousin. My cousin is friends with this guy. The guy works at a local performance shop and has MAD connections. My cuz is going to call the guy up tommorow to see if he will sell the engine/tranny/ecu and whatever for 400. Also he is going to find out what all comes with it, supposedly everything for a complete swap. So, where on the engine is the VIN, and how do I get it checked to see if it is hot.

THanks!
