Default pistons for ls/vtec.....

Alright so Im not too sure about which pistons to use for ls/vtec set up....I mean i thought ITRs would work well for all motor, then noticed p30s yield higher compression, but havent heard anything about those being used and wondered if there was a reason for it.....and if not those, what about endyn? thanks, late

p30's are great, they make about 11-5 compression with a b16 head.
kinda hard to find though.
pr3 makes 11-3. thats my choice. both are perfect for street cars. pr3 pistson are everywhere and easy to find.

I wonder if PCT (B16B) pistons are too high.

I used b16 pistons in my lsvtec and they were fine, made decent power for still using stock parts. ITR pistons are not a direct drop in just to let u know...

ITR/CTR/GSR pistons are too narrow for the LS rods. The small end of the rods have to be machined or the pistons have to be opened up a little to accept LS rods.

Yeah what b19coupe said, plus the bottom of the ITR piston was a little larger and wouldn't drop right in.

so what about eagle rods and say p30s or ctrs? with LS eagles they should fit huh, i read somewhere on here that they also have to be machined to fit on.....the piston heads themselves do....

B16a pistons work well. I have 2 sets for sale too.. 1 overbore .25 PR3's, and 1 regular bore....
