Broken axel and tranny wont go into 1st 3rd and 5th gears now. HELP
well the other night i was with out with a few friends and decided to let a freind of mine drive my ride. Well to make the story short he managed to brake an axel shifting hard into 2nd gear and when i was wating for the flatbed to come get us i realilzed that the tranny wouldnt go into the following gears, 1st 3rd and 5th? Does anyone know why this would have happend or do you guys think he blew the tranny also at the same time the axel went??? any advice/help would be greatly appreciated.
why all the sudden the tranny loose 1st 3rd and 5th?? it just seems kinda odd to me that all of the gears that are the "up" ones on the pattern are acting like this? you would figure 2nd would be toast?......anyone have any ideas????
Was he pre-loading the gears before tapping the clutch for a quicker shift? Sounds to me like it's a broken/bent shift fork. I'm not familiar with honda gearboxes but that's what it sounds like...

i'll take a crack at it, does it go into 2/4? and if it does, with the engine on, will the clutch grab? like hackish, i was thinking broken shift fork. but i would have to say that the plate were the selector for the gears sit broke, causing the selector to fall out of place. let us know when you open the tranny!

the car will go into 2nd and 4th with no problem, but it will not move. A friend of mine broke an axel in his crx before and he said the car would not move until he put another one in. I also am thinking it was a shift fork or soemthign of that nature. also it was the driver side axel if that will make any difference.
thanks for the thoughts fellas.

well, if you have one axle out of the differential, the car won't move! but once you replace that axle, if the 2/4 gears are good you should feel the car wanting to move or maybe stall! open that tranny up, that's the only way to find out what's wrong with it!
