Speedometer Fix for 1988 CRX HF with 98 civic EX Engine???
I just bought a 1988 CRX HF and the speedometer isn't working...so i took off the dash trim and found the cable to be either worn or cut (probably cut). (Keep in mind there is a 1998 CIVIC EX or LX engine in the car) I looked at the other end of it in the engine and it was sitting in some part of the transmission. I'm not too good with honda's i just bought this one as a fix up, i've been working on camaro's for a while though. So i figure i just need a cable, right!? However, should i buy one for a 88 CRX HF? or for a 98 CIVIC EX? or do i need some sort of kit? Thank you so much, i'm new in the import world of mechanics...i'm done with american cars though...crap.
get a new cable for an 88 crx. if that doesn't fix your problem, try a new cable speedo pinion to put in the tranny, and if it still isn't fixed, the problem would lie in the gauge cluster itself.
