B18C1 in EK - Runs Like Poo! No Codes. ??? HELP ??? !!!
finally got my EK B18C1 hybrid finished.
...but there's one problem...
it doesn't rev up quickly...it kinda lags for a second when you give it throttle, and then slooooooooooooowly climbs up the rpms until vtec, and it picks up a little pace, but still is not right. this happens under load, and in neutral using the finger-throttle control on the TB.
VTEC and IAB both work perfectly and the ECU throws no codes. TPS reads 4.68-4.7 ohm...4.8 ohm is spec.
what could be the problem?
help!

Sound like a clip is switched. I switch the map and tps and it ran horrible with no codes present. I would double check the wiring as 90% of the time the problem is there.

Must be more Ghetto wiring there!!

We've verified that the plug wires are within spec. I'll buy new spark plugs (althought they don't look fouled) and a new fuel filter today.
How will I know if the timing belt is off a tooth?

So you checked all the harness wires. You forgot 1 already!!!!

You'll have to pull off the valve cover and see the position of the cam gears when the crank pully mark is lined up with the mark on the t/b cover.
I figured you would have changed the t/b and w/p at the time of the swap. Bring it down here, we'll get it fixed up.

unfortunately, i wasn't planning to do this swap right now (you know that!). so, no, i haven't yet replaced the T/B and W/P. that'll be done as soon as i have my own garage next month. until then, every spare pennie is going to closing costs on the house.
you should come up tomorrow after work to help us troubleshoot.

The wiring has been checked and checked again the TPS and MAP are connected by their colors listed in the helms.
The fact that the coil the car was running on had over 1 ohm of resistance between A and B and I don't know if the plugs have been checked for proper gap yet. I for some reason think i remember the timing belt being taken off for some reason but can't remember for sure.
Couple more things the fuel in the tank is lower octane then desired, if the timing belt had skipped it would in fact make it behave like this. If that is not the cause, the fact that the distro has been on and off several times w/o the timing being checked/reset with a light or the plugs being checked yet leads me to believe that it is in fact a weak/illtimed ignition system problem being it poor plugs off timing etc.
but hey Ben we'll get this figured out tommorow once we have the needed parts cooL? because with me there and the parts I need we WILL get this done... (I grow impaitent
hehe)

make shure that you are using the INTEGRA injectors and not the civics. They flow the same ammound but the integra injectors are made to rev higher.

flow rating is all that matters, 240cc in this case, revs doesnt have anything to do with anything when comparing injectors.
the integra set might be cleaner though becuase they tend to be nwer than civics, therefore making you think they can rev higher

Ok well call me crazy but on 3 difrent cars I have personaly seen this happen.
99 dx -b16
92 si -LS
97 dx gsr
all of wich have had the civic injectors ran like **** then swaped to integra injectors and made a big ******* difrence.

Well, the problem was easy.
The intake-side cam gear had slipped a tooth, advancing the timing I believe 8 (?) degrees.
Once fixed, she runs like a champ.
I'm soooooooooooooo happy to finally have a hybrid again.
WOOHOO!!!
To everyone who helped...
