should i trade my ITR lsd tranny?
ok i have currently in my car the 96 jdm ITR tranmny with 4.4 final drive it is perfect and i love it. but i am going turbo in 3 weeks and my friend is going all motor. he has a almost brand new 2000 ls tranny perfect. condition. he has offered me 500 bux cash plus his ls tranny for my lsd tranny. with turbo i have heard that a longer geared tranny is more suitable. what do u guys think?
yea i figured that but i really love the way the lsd grabs traction. when i go to the track i know i will spin only one wheel and be embarrased as hell at the track.
my main concern with the trade is that the LS tranny does not have as stong internals as the lsd tranny, like synchros and things like that. is that true? or are the internals in both trannies made of the same quality?

Big mistake. Your getting ripped on that deal...

You should wait until you get the turbo installed to decide if you like it or not. I think you should keep your tranny for obvious reasons. You would be giving up LSD and good gears. For what?

i guess we need to know what set up he has. here is the deal in what i have learned. all the big dogs in the buick world, were running powerglides with tall *** tires. to let the turbo do its job. also we locked up the torque converters on the 2004R's to bog the engine down to make the turbo work. that was what i learned from the oldschool buick guys. i dont want to argue. i want to learn. what are the cons? maybe if it is a stock stroked b16. but if it is a beastly b18 or b20 shouldnt it have enough torque for the taller gear?
my setup is going to be b16 with the drag kit with t3/t4 setup i think i will hold onto the lsd for now. i love it too much. and it is still in perfect condition. feels brand new

After reading this, I say stay with ITR tranny. Does it honestly make any sense to stay in boost longer. Shorter closer gears are better right? Also depends on turbo set up.
