OT; 2001 Audi A4 1.8T
My friend just got a 2001 Audi A4 1.8T quattro (manual tranny). We were wondering what the 0-60 and 1/4 mile times are for this car? I guess the 2001 has a bump in hp from 150hp to 170hp. It's a very nice car, the clutch is nice and smooth and it has what feels to be a nice flat torque curve, but kinda dies out in the upper rpm. Also, what rpm should he launch at?
We were discussing modification options, possibly starting off with an APR chip?!?
Does anyone know of a good discussion forum for Audis?
Thanks...

audi is one of those companies that puts traffic turbos on there cars.. they are good in the mid range which makes u think good power but they dont put down good 1/4's and mph's cause its top end blows.. your friend needs to put a bigger turbo on that beast..
I personally prefer Upsolute chips. I've worked with the chip maker directly, and their chips have outperformed APR's nearly every time.
When my brother had his A4 1.8T quattro, I think I remembered slipping the clutch at 4500rpm at the track to get a 2.0 60foot. Here's the drill...
Raise rpm's to 4500
Release clutch slowly
When you see the nose of the car raise up, release clutch.
Worked for me everytime. Stock his car ran a 16.4@82mph. Modified (Neuspeed chip (crap), HKS exhaust, and filter) we were able to get a 15.4@88mph. Not bad for 750 bucks

Oh, I also like the http://www.vwvortex.com discussion forums. LOTS of people in there, and tons of people are in the 1.8t forum. Hell, even I am registered there
