lighting question?? have the weirdest thing goin on.....
iu have a 2000 cx hatch and
i am putting a set of clear taillights on and i am using apc led bulbs ( 7443 ) but when i put the bulbs in i can only get the taillights to come on but if i take the bulb out and plug it in the oppisite of how it was then i can only get my brakelights to work.... i cant get both sides to do both ...( really frustrating ) this should be as simple as plug them in but finally i got one side to do both but i cant get the passenger side to work correctly ....
has anyone else had this problem if so please help im really gettin pissed at this being so simple and bein so difficult......
any help will be greatly appreciated...
thanks neil

i agree with the rest of the majority on this one.... but to answer your question.... on bulbs they have little tiny metal stubs stickin out the sides in different height locations for the stock bulb, chances are that the new bulb you have is not made for dual purpose so it has the 2 little stubs but there at the same height locations...
hard to explain. but look at the bulbs and you will see what i mean

i don't know what's up with your lights man. it's kinda hard to follow your post, but that is prob just my inability to read.
But what these guys say is true, APC products are cheaply made. lights get water in them, doesn't last long, work right, etc.

well thanks for the input i am not to fond of apc but it was my only immediate source for the bulbs.. the clear taillights ARE NOT apc..
but i noticed that the bulbs have 4 contacts 2 on eeach side at first i thought the prongs were backwards ( the oppisite position of the originals glass bulbs) so i bent them the other direction to correct it and know i have either both brake lights working or only both taillights cant get both to work together...
the bulbs are 7443 dual filaments ..
could the resistors that they use to make the leds work be causing to much resistance and making them not work..
if you all were goin to get aftermarket bulbs for the oldstyle cleartaillights ( not the alltezza style the original frosted looking clears ) were would you go???
any websites would be greatly appreciated...
thanks neil

spare yourself the trouble of being hassled by the cops for your clear taillights and get some stockers. those bulbs are alot easier to get ahold of, and will cause you no headaches. and plus it looks 10x better.
did you try putting the stock bulbs back on to see if your tail lights work properly, because if your stock bulbs work fine on them, and you did get dual filament bulbs then more then likely its the apc bulbs...
yes if i put the original bulbs back in the lights work perfect...
so i think its the bulbs to but i was curious if the same problem was normal with led bulbs or what the hell is goin on...
thanks for all the help im goin to take the bulbs back and get regular glass one that are colored red...
thanks again neil

haha i think he might have been joking about jdm bulbs..
go to your local neighborhood autoparts store and they should be able to give you a good stock replacement...ask the guys at the counter..

you mean the resistance of the resistor used is too high? thus causing too much voltage drop across the resistor, and not supplying the bulb with enough voltage? I doubt it. I don't think APC would be that dumb to design a bulb that doesn't work due to the wrong size resistors used. If that were the case then none of those bulbs would work, and the design as well wouldn't work. It's prob just crappy materials and something isn't working correctly. Either that or they are not the bulbs for your application.
