!!!!!cam install last leg -questions !!!!HELP!!!
ok cam, cam plates, and caps are on, now the timing belt is giving me problems. how do i slip that dam thing on? im trying to get to the tension bolt but the lower timing belt is covering it, how can i remove it? i dont want to have to take off the crank bolt since i dont have tools to torque that thing back on
last, how do i make sure the engine is truly at TDC since it could have moved a bit during the installation.

you can slip the timing belt on just keep at it or get a friend to help. If you really have to, there should be a rubber plug on the tbelt cover, pop it off and you have access to the tensioner bolt.
As for making sure it's timed right, you should have made white marks on the belt referencing the dots on the cam gears, you dont even have to think about if it's on right or not. since you didnt just line up the inner dots on the camgears and make sure the crank is tdc.

you have to use the cam holder holes, slip a 8mm punch (I think that's the size) down into the holes to lock the cams in place at TDC.
You will prolly need 2 people to do this. Then have someone hold the cams and punch in place. Then you pull the timing belt over the cams.
Dude consult the helms manual. The cam install should've only taken about 2-3 hours max.

i know how to find TDC, i just want it to be exact or nearly close to it. i aligned the small notches up horizontaly with the arrows pointing up pior to removing the cams. i know how to install cams i just need reassurance and welcoming other methods. so
back at you.

i did this with tape and a black marker but the problem is i cant slip the belt back over the cam gears thats why i want to access the tension bolt. i also checked with sparkplug hole #1 if the piston is up top, which it is.

ill try the punch method but im doing this alone in the wee hours between when my dad's not home because according to him everything i do with the car is ******* it up, i dont like confrontations.
i also have a helms but its for a 94 model so there might be slight diffrences.
ANYMORE SUGGESTIONS?
how about how to access the markings on the block without taking off the crank bolt?

Dude, it is going to be BITCH *** tight. That's why you need 2 people to pull it back on.
It's easy as hell to slip that thing off. It's one of the hardest parts to pull it back on.
The 94 Helms manual will tell you EXACTLY how to install the cams. It's not different in any way.
