Default Your opinion: buying a 2000 GS-R with 84,000 miles (Can someone carfax too please?)

I may have a buyer for my black 95 LS
I found a nice 2000 GS-R with 84,000 miles. California owned, leased by honda financing corp by a woman..in 2-3 years its has to be 90%+ highway miles. it will need the rear bumper repainted, but otherwise it's in immaculate condition. The clutch doesn't let out as smooth as my 95 either so it may need a nice clutch

What's your take on buying a 2000 with so many miles? good? bad?
I might be able to get it for as low as about 10k..black on black leather, just a beautiful car. Has about 2 dings, perfect interior, no scuffs on the swirlies. VIN on motor matches VIN on vehicle. Very clean overall. What do you guys think?

Oh yeah, and anyone have a carfax they could run on it?

Screw the miles, get it! 84 isnt nothing, and more than likely they are easy miles. so i dont see the miles as being a problem.

yep, its not a lot of miles..i'm trying to figure out if that's a fair price given the mileage.

If you can get it for $10k, that would be a good deal

well the milage shouldnt be that big of a problem, but i kinda think 10 is a bit high, i would ask for a lil under 10....it may be a 2000 but thats waaaay over the average for milage put on to a car per year.....my $.02

Work him down man, you'll be breaking 100 in a year (or less). I got my 97 with 45k miles for 11,500. immaculate condition too

If you really are from MN, then I would wait. GSR's go for hella cheap up here. You can find a 98+ w/ half the miles for around 12K-14K easily. I don't think anyone is going to be rushing to grab that car. He has to come down on the price. I say 9-9 1/2k.

I can get a slightly older GS-R with less miles for a grand or two more- but 10k is right within my budget, and in a few years if i have to sell I think i'll be able to get back most of it.

thanks for your 2 cents

Do it if you can get them around 10K or lower. Tell them the bumper will cost like $500 to repaint and you will need to get new tires...blah blah blah

For the bumper go to a hobby shop and get paint that matches the car, I SAID hobbyshop like hobbypeople or so then get a airbrush and paint it. I highly dought the spray pactra paint will match, so get it in a jar. Why I said the hobbyshop is because you know how rc bodies get the jitters crashed out of them and the RC paint never flakes it, flexes instead.

upside= it's a honda so you know it's gonna last
downside=(may sound sexist) but a female owned it before you and (depending on her age) they could be some hard miles. i had a girlfriend in high school that just ruined her 97 civic. only honda i have seen with under 100K that was about to fall apart. might wanna check if the mileage is highway miles and what has been replaced, what maintenance has been done.

i agree. my mom, cousin, and gf DO NOT care about their lexus's. they don't care about the paint, oil, brake pads. "just as long as it still goes" my gf said that. they spend money on little stuffed animals rather than extra steering wheel fluid. this isn't a generalization on all women but it irritates me when my gf drives an is300 and treats it like an 88 crx.

anyways, 84k miles is a lot for a 2000. how did she manage to drive 84,000 miles in 3 years? did she maintain it?

Buy an old 95 teggie ragged out and drop a JapSpec GSR motor with low mileage in it. You'll still be way under $10k and have something with low mileage. And you can sell the old motor.
