well today my friend and i wanted to see how are cars compared.... his car is a 00 si with 35000 miles, aem cold air. and tanabe racing medallion b pipe with stock muffler, me with a 92 si with 131000 miles, no mods but i took intake resonator out and didnt have rear seats in...... he beat me by alil less then a car in a marked out 1/4 mile.... we both had about same launches with me ahead a tiny bit... this is the only thing i could have to compare how my car is running... its smokin and feels dead after 6500.... is it running as good as its supposed to and i jus expect too much out of it... or is it running slow?

 

thats not to bad it isprettygood. my 99 ex coupe would win all the way to the end of third gear and then my friend would start finally pulling. myredline was 7100. but now i smoke him by alot more cars lol

 

hmm the guy in the 00 civic needs to learn how to drive a bit better...it shouldnt be that close

so if it shouldnt be that close, then my car is prob running up to par?? he isnt he best driver, but not horrible..... like i said both launches were about the same so after that its all up to the cars?

Unless u are a great driver and he sucks. i mean the si isnt Extremely fast, but my bro has one and i douyt my eg wouldnt do taht good. i beat the 92 si with my nonvtec. if he can't drive that well, go from a 20 mph roll and see what happens. take the launch variable out of the equation.

we did... he didnt really pull all that hard... we were the same till about 6500 then he pulls a lil till the end of his gears.. it would be about same result... does that mean my car is running good... thats the whole purpose of this post... it jus doesnt feel like i thought it would.. atleast in vtec.. whats the point of vtec if its only 1700 rpm's worth of power from 4800 till 6500

Not neccisarly....the 92 si is a hatchback which you have to take into account w/o all the extra features and weighs alot less than the 00 si...and i can personally vouche for both drivers seeing i know them personally and ride with them on almost a daily basis...they are near equal..it kinda blows my mind also how brian's HB keeps up

Umm, no . . . where do you people keep getting this idea in your head that just because a car is a hatchback, it has to be light?

The EH3 Si is rated at 2326lbs, while the EM1 Si is rated at 2612lbs. That's a difference of only 286lbs - but the EM1 Si has 35 more horsepower and more potential with modifications.

jesse's 00 si could have a clutch that is going in it...i agree with you completely weight isnt a sole factor...but on the other hand brian's si rex could keep up with it too and all that had was a cheap intake and a catback exhaust

actually (jesse) 00 si can drive
my old crx si was just plain and simply quick, there known to run mid 15's with just minor bolt ons, as for why i keep up with him with my 92 si hatch i have no idea, im pretty sure having a stripped rear interior helps

 

I've owned both cars and I'm sorry to say your boy can't drive or he's extremly fat like he should be on Jerry Springer fat, talking about he can't get out of bed anymore.

 

why would he have to be fat, i have vx rims ( really lightweight) stripped interior and a car that starts at 2300 pounds

so figure about 2200 pounds for 92 hatch with 130 horse

and a 2000 si that weighs 2600 pounds and has 160 stock (but he has intake)

so common sense tsays that 400 pounds of weight will make up for 30 horse right?

the b16a is tweaked a lot better from the factory so the z6 will respond better to basic bolt ons

My old stock 1992 Si with only an AEM intake ran 15.6 with full interior minus spare!

This was on shitty 185-60-14 Michelin MXV4 street tires at stock height, etc.

There aren't too many Si coupes running mid 15's stock in my area.

Back when I was a retard I used to street race and I never lost to a modded 99 Si when I still had my stock D16Z6 with only the intake - NEVER.

Not to say your not right but I'm sure you are a better driver than the people you raced in the 99 si's. I've owned both cars and the 92 si didn't have any power, not to say the new si does because don't think they do. I wish my si came with a b18c5 but it didn't so I tore my engine down two months after I bought it. A good driver vs a bad driver makes a bigger different than 286lbs. I've even raced one when I had a 93 si but it was against a friend who was a girl and of course I won...Not to say women can't drive but she couldn't. Now sense I have a 00 si I don't know how I would ever lose to a 92 si with a cai.

 

The 5th and 6th gen Si's are only about .2's away from each other stock. It really would come down to the driver.
