2 way pagers worth it?
I'm in the market in buying an alarm system for my car, but I'm debating whether or not it's worht it to get a 2 way pager. Im probably going to with a DEI brand. Besides the 70~100 added price tag, how many of you actually feel safer with a pager? i mean...they only recieve 1/4-1/2 mile range(and even that's being a little optimistic), so i would imagine that the pager would be out of range a lot. I ahve a 240sx and I garage my car. But with the rising popularity with these cars, I'm startin to be afraid that it will attract thieves. My car has already been broken in to (tampered with the lock) and my stereo stuff stolen so I know how it feels to get jacked . I just don't want something like this to happen again. Any input is appreciated thanks~!
For me, a pager would be a waste. 90% of my time is spent too far away from the car for it to work. The other 10% i'm sleep, and I don't think the pager would wake me up.
i just bought my a DEI hornet 2 way 554t. i paid 360 installed with extra glass senor and to roll up and downt the window + a backup siren with a built in battery. I do feel safer but if you ever go to disneyland you wont get the page. even sometimes in the mall my signal read is out. the screen has a tower character that tells you that you have a connection with you car but sometimes it fades depends which mall or how far you've gone. overall their worth it unless you dont have the funds and hardly take out you car.
i have a Millennium SF FM pager. i love it. the range is excellent at 1/4 mile in a residential area.
at school when my car sits on top of a parking garage, it's AT LEAST a half mile range.
it's almost pointless that far tho, cause by the time i would walk/run that far my car could be gone.
