I just put a set of 36lb (370cc) mustang injectors in my del sol. I got a good deal on them and mustangs are high impedence so no wiring to deal with. I had to do a little grinding to get them to fit in the rail but I started up the car and it ran good. I'm turboing it Sunday using the v-afc hack and wanted to get as much going while it was still n/a as I could. I leaned it out to -25 and it's running good a/f ratios. If these aren't enough to run 8 psi I have a pressure regulator too. One thing I did notice was leaning it out -25 on the v-afc advances the timing quite a bit. I noticed it was pinging a little driving it around the block, I will retard the timing tomorrow.

 

WOW ....that is one of those trial and error deals
try to richen the vafc more as the rpms go up

i've always wondered that... I can get those injectors all day long... What size injectors are stock mustang?

 

mustangs come with so many different sized injectors. Just check e-bay there are a million of them

 

stock mustangs came with 19lb/hr injectors (yellow top) and cobras and 460 fuelie trucks came with 24lb/hr injectors (blue top) thunderbird s/c's and supercharged cougars come with 36 lb/hr injectors (red top)....

I have no idea what lb/hr converts over into for cc's though...

what kind of grinding did you have to do??

For examples: 36 lb/hr X 10.5 = 378cc

 

There is a plastic collar on the top of the injector you have to grind off for it to fit the rail.

I don't have a digital camera. My friend is going to take pictures of it all and put it in his website soon. I will have dyno graphs, how to's, lots of stuff.

 

There was a nice article about a boost build up with a del sol in a magazine, dont rememebr which it was but they used 24lb/hr injectors (approx. 310cc) with a fmu set up and it ran great. injectors bolt right up you just need to bore out your fuel rail to the size of the orings for the ford injectors, anything a local machine shop could do. the major difference between the ford injectors and say a set of rc injectors is that they both cost about the same price right out of the catalog...somewhere around 240 bucks but with the ford ones you get 8! instead of 4. so go halfs with a friend who needs some and your golden, bigger injectors, half the price. plug and play. pretty simple!
