My mods & quarter mile time ..... pls. looK
My setup/mods:
94LS w/
Iceman CAI intake
ITR (all USDM) header/cat/b-pipe/muffler
Cam gears set at -1 +2
Advanced timing to 18
Skunk 2 chip revving at 7500 (track only)
8-pound AASCO flywheel
ACT HDSS clutch w/ Exedy racing pressure plate*
SI hydro tranny
Neuspeed race springs
"17's in the back & 15"s in the front (si wheel w/ stock tires @ 50% thread left)
That's it for now.
I went to the track Thursday night & my best run was 15.315sec @ 90.13mph w/ a 2.310 0-60ft. Tire pressure: 23
Also tried w/ muffler removed = 15.347 @ 90.06
**********************************************
***i have a leak between the cat & catback, gasket was bad*** (does it matter?)
**********************************************
Last year I did a best of 15.7 @ 88 & that's w/o the chip, tranny, clutch & flywheel setup, so that obviously means I only dropped about 0.4 seconds.
Question:
Is my time good
or bad
w/ those mods listed?
Compared to my previous time of 15.7, why only 15.3 with those added mods?
What's next mod in order to break into 14's w/o turbo, sc, or ls/vtec?
Should I change anything right noww/ my setup so that maybe I can break into 14's or atleast lower my time just a little more?
Opinions & advices are welcomed.
Thanks in advance.

I just added it.
17's in the back & 15's in the front
Si wheels w/ stock tires 50 % thread left @ 23 psi.
Stock 14" tires were used with the 15.7 @ 88 @ 20 psi, same 0-60ft @ 2.3sec.

nice times. u could maybe bust a 14.9 or 15.0 with a better lauch, meaning lower 60fts. try some better tires or different technique.. a 2.1 or 2.2 would be money!

how about cams, and an intake manifold would help if youre revving higher. also i would suggest differnt headers/exhaust, might help you open up a little. otherwise that ain't a bad time, we'll see how my LS does this year at the track

Why not slicks??? 50% tread could hurt and that could be a cheap easy mod to get you a better 60ft and faster times.

its all USDM
& yes its a skunk chip for LS @ 8500 redline
with a supposedly more aggresive air fuel curve
but i only rev to 7500</TD></TR></TABLE>
Why are you revving that high on stock cams?
Stock LS cams don't make power that high. Try shfting around 7100 or so.

i think it does & if i'm going to rev only to 7100, i'm thinking of trying my stock ecu
& see how that goes
SI tranny = very short gears
if I bring it only to 7100
1st gear = 26
at 7500 = 31

i do agree with arw321 upon shifting too high.
if your using your stock cams, ur power would most likely to end around 6500ish on each gear. Since you do have a shorter gear tranny, all that means is you will accelerate faster.

i agree with adam on this point. might want to invest in aftermaket cams.

UPDATE:
didn't change anything but ran again
15.2 @ 91.5mph w/ 2.4 60ft.
the tires really suck, i need tires badly
any suggestions for tires to bring my 60 ft down
no slicks but street tires only on 14" steelies
or 15" si stock rims

IF you buy tires, get FALKEN AZENIS SPORTS 205/50-15 these tires are so awesome, i have 4 of them on my car, and i love them, very sticky tires. and also, keep the pressure at about 32 psi, that is where all regular tires work the best at. at least thats what i think a major magazine figured out. I would also change up that exaust. i would buy the DC JDM 4-1 header, a high flow cat, and a cat-back exhuast. something aftermarket, with more of a straight through design.
Another problem is your timing advance. The chip already advances your ignition timing maps. So you being at 18, and then the chip advancing even more sets you too high. I found that out when i was at the local races with my chipped ecu. Keep it at 16 or you can even retard it to 14. Bing the tools necessary to do little changes on the track so you can find your sweet spot.
so if i get new headers like a 4-1 & a new catback w/ new tires
i should be in the 14's all day considering that i bring my 60fts to 2.1sec
I'm not sure about that timing tho, i was told to keep it at 18 even with a chipped ecu>? can anybody verify that
keeping the timing at 16 or even 14

from personal experience retard the timming don't advance it when i advanced the timming on my chipped ecu i was running 9.9-10.0 on the 1/8 i retarded the timing and i have a run a best of 9.5
