Default whats a good set of drag tires

I'm looking to buy a set of drag tires, but not sure whats a good set. I dont want just straight racing slicks. I want a set of some sticky tires. maybe like cheater slicks.

I'm only going to use them for the track. not everyday use. Unless you guys think slicks are the best thing to buy. All i do is spin tire in 1st gear. no traction at all

The only way you are going to get the best bite for the buck are racing slicks. If you are going to only use them for the track, then go with slicks. GOOD LUCK John@M&H

Try the McCreary American Racers. Practically a cheater slick with a really sticky compound.

If you are only gonna use them at the track don't cheat yourself. How much power you putting down? Or what is your set-up?

I'm in a similar boat....er...um....car I'd say 80% of the time (when I have time to go to the track) it's by myself. I have a full set of slicks/skinnies, but only use them when I can get a friend to haul them up with me. At the moment, none of the production street drag tires are worth it to me. I used to pull consistent 2.1 60's on crappy 205/45-15 Nitto DRs. What's so amazing if the great BFGs can only get consistent 2.0s and occational 1.9s? Isn't there any drag tire (radial or bias) that I can safely drive only to the track and get clean 1.9s or <U>better</U>? I don't car how long it lasts since it'll be a track day only tire.

And if anyone from say M&H is listening in, a 24"od dot drag tire would be niiiiice

hey john, id like to see a 235/50/15(or like a 24.5X9) offered one of these days. I think thats the biggest we can go on stock fenders without having it stick out nasty. Plus most guys here are running these tires on a 6.5/7" rim so contact patch is gonne suffer. Some guys will tell you they want 245/255 26" tall or whatever but for most of us, "drive to the track, race, drive home" style racers, we don't want anything ubsurd. We just want a better compound a 23" and 24.5" would be ideal.

A 235/60-14 I think would be about perfect. Nice od with substantial sidewall. Any possibility of incorporating a wrinkle wall design?

This is what the V-8 guy's use its a DOT and they can drive from home to the drag races with out changing the tires, but I dont recommend everyday use, what the V-8 guy's do is have 24-30 psi when going to the track and then they drop the air pressure down to what they want, and then when they are done for the night they use an electric air pump that you put in the cig-lighter and pump the tires back up. Now this is not a radial tire this a Bias ply tire and it is a wrinkle wall tire, I sell this tire to all the rwd V-8 racers. Hear are the DIM ) ( Tread Width = 7.5" ) ( Section Width. = 9.8" ) ( Dia. = 25.0" ) ( Circ. 78.4" ) ( Rim Size. 6.5" )

Maybe something that would fit a 15x6.5" or 15x7" Wheels, such as 215/50-15?

A Bias ply uses nylon cord a radial uses stainless steel wire.<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by DIRepTial &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">
