pioneer faceplates interchangable..??

pioneer faceplates interchangable..??
I recently bought a faceplate for a pioneer p6400 that was stolen off my cd player. I remember someone saying each faceplate has a certain code, and wont work on other units but the one it came with. I didnt think this was true but I am just making sure...anyone know?

not true, atleast not with Alpine's. For fun we've switched them around, and some of the new face plates even work with the older model radios and vise versa

it depends...I have installed plenty of pioneer headunits and some of them are interchangeable and some not..you would just have to try....and if they are interchangeable sometimes not all the buttons work....
