What engine is this??? DOHC non vtec???
can someone plz tell me what engine is this
its on a four door eg civic, its not an LS motor, its 1.6 and comes stock in four door EG civic Si´s in my country, i dont know what engine it is and its not aftermarket and its not vtec
heres another pic in a 93 del sol
I dont think its a ZC cause they are on four doors and they arent vtec (i think), they are stock engines on these cars
here are more pics
performance wise, how are these engines? How much power can be extracted from them? Is it better than a Z6? Thanks

I have the same engine in my EG sedan and here in Australia they call them Civic Si as well, was only sold for a short time (1992 - 1994) as the top civic sedan model before it was replaced with the SOHC VTEC engine which they then badged as Civic VTi.

Thats a ZC motor. There should be a "stamp" on the motor on the left front side where the tranny mounts which says "ZC" on it.

Isnt the ZC a Vtec engine? I was under the impression it was. I have read its a D16A8 wich is a Zc sans Vtec.
If it is so a A8 how much power does it have? Is it good for Na or turbo (wich of both) thanks

to all those people who thought it was ls motor. Remember honda puts motors according to the weight of vehicles. Such as b18a b18c1 in integras, h22a f22a in prelude and accords. ever notice the lightest car has the least ex. 88-91 hf @ 63 hp. just a thought

no it's not! that's a ZC.. you can tell it's not an LS by the plastic cam gear cover on the valve cover

you are wrong Sir. I just spent last night ripping a ZC DOHC out of a friends CRX...(to be replaced by B17A)...They do make them, the pre-DA model tegs had them.

oh, and for those that arent aware, the ZC was Honda's worst idea ever. A single cam bottom end, with a DOHC head jerry-rigged on it.
The ZC is a very popular swap for people with Si CRX's...they can go from single cam to dual cam, usually picking up the block for around $300-400, and all the single cam componates move over (Tranny, axles, etc.)
