Default Electrical Problems

Hey Guys,

I am having a strange Electrical problem and sorted thru Wires for about 3 hours today and was unable to track it down.

What happens is when I turn my Left Turn Signal On my Temp gauge rises and falls with the blink of the turn signal, If I turn on the high Beams the left signal indicator on the dash lights up dimmly. If I put the car into reverse the Fuse pops for that Circuit(Which controls Turn Signals, Tach, Temp gauge)

I cannot find any grounded wires and they only thing has changed recently is my Starter broke and I replaced it. Since that time the problem has surfaced.

The starter replacement could have been a coincidence since it failed due to someone leaving 1 of the mounting bolts out

This happened to anyone else? Tomorrow I am going to pick up a Gauge Cluster from a friend of mine in case thats the culprit. Any Ideas?

BTW this is a 1988 CRX with a ZC....MPFI Wiring has been installed for Over 2 years now with no problems....Car runs and drive like it always has.....but now its inspection time and I cant pass with this mess going on

Please help

Thanks in Advance,
Mike

Take off your Gauge Cluster and see if you fried something in the back of it. I fried my starter one day and saw a puff of smoke come from my cluster bezel. I looked back behind it and the wires for it melted apart.

Take it out to a field and blow it up . haha, anyway, my best guess is that it is the female spaid connector on the starter next to the main power nut. I assume its a ground wire, i left mine off once and it did some very strange things. Also, another idea could be the ground wire on the main fuse panel on the shock tower. I forgot to hook that back up once on a motor swap and it lead to some seriously goofy things. Just my $.02

Dragged this post out from the dead because im having a similar problem.
When I put the car into reverse the temp gauge shoots up and then the fuse pops. This has only happened since I swapped in an LS.
Anyone have some ideas?
