Default new clutch going out after 400 miles?

I just had my clutch replaced on my 93 accord. I've had it for about 400 miles. It ran beautiful the first 400 now when i try to accelerate in high gears i get no power, it just revs. like my old clutch. And like all new clutches it was kinda jerky now it feels like my old one, very strange. If any of u guys could help me out that would be great

Did you break it in properly? If you didn't then there is your problem.

How do you break in a clutch?

I don't know, I've never had a new clutch put in (with over 250,000 miles on three cars), though I've bought a couple of new cars with manual transmission.

its usually for the first 500 miles. don't shift over 4k rpm, and drive a good bit of stop and go driving.

Yeah, basically you dont want to do any aggresive driving for the first 500-1000 miles.

u wanna do alot of stop and go traffic and have the clutch engage and disengage alot. if you go out and beat on it right away you get heat marks and it warps, then it slip's. if you have a 3 Puck or 4 Puck and a unsprung hub then you don't have to break it in it either catches or it doesn't.

You could have some oil seepage onto the clutch faces. That would definately be bad b/k slapping a new one on won't fix the underlying problem.

Though if oil was the case, I would think whoever installed the new clutch would've spotted that.

Does the clutch pedal have any free-play?
