Default how to repair minor rust??

This G3 Teg I am looking at buying has minor rust appearing in one of the fenders. What is the cheapest most effective way of getting rid of it before it becomes a problem?

what color is your car? just tape up the area that is not rusted
and spray just a little primer on the area that is gettin rusted.

it is in the fender, so the color of the teg doesnt matter. So the primer is going to stop the rust from spreading??

Ummm no dont do that.....rust is like cancer....it keeps spreading. The only real way to get rid of rust is to take it to a body shop and have them repair it. They should cut out the rust part and weld in a new piece of metal.

you have to sand it down to the sheet metal if it indeed is rusting. Might want to check the inner lining to see if water collected elsewhere along the fender.

Sand that down till there is no rust. Take some alcohol or cleaning solution and clean off the area. then prime.... cheap but effective. Painting over it will only cause you grief in the end. it merely hides the problem rather than stop it.

Im thinking it would cost no more than 500 to take it to a shop have them completely redo the fender and repaint it?

Is the minor rust, rusting through the body or is it surface rust? If its surface rust you can diy.. But if its rusting through i'de also recomend a body shop, And depending on the amount it ranges in price... Pics would help though
