Default i need to remove the crank pulley bolt while the engine is in the car

I read up on all the ways to do it, i tried my 550 ft/lb air gun, didn't work. I want to try the screw driver in the flywheel approach next but i don't wanna screw up my flywheel. I've got the prolite chrome moly flywheel from act, and i also have a 1.5 foot snap on screw driver, i was thinking about putting the thing through the holes in the flywheel and having the screw driver hit against the bell housing. One fear i have is will all that pressure acting on the crank, will the prolite flywheel be damaged?

Is your car drivable ? Why not take it to a shop and let them loosen it and then just hand tighten and then take it off when you get home. If not try heating it up. I would not put anything threw my flywheel and risk messing it up. By a tool to hold the crank pulley or the flywheel.

Thats odd. I have a Craftsman 600ft-lbs Impact Wrench and it took my crank pulley bolt off like it was nothing. Hey you only like like 10 minutes away from me, if your stuck in a jam come over my house and I could probably shoot it off with my gun if you are left without any other options.

ok here's an old trick that I have used. first put a breaker bar on the socket. and block the breaker bar against the floor. bump the starter with the car in gear (if you have a clutch safety you must by-pass this) I don't remember if you have to use 1st or reverse. Bump the starter first and watch which way the crank turns. We have used this method alot at work with various auto manufactures. and it's even in a TSB for a certain make. BTW disconnect the Dizzy so the car doesn't start and be careful

how i do it, is remove your #1 spark plug, make sure #1 cylinder is @ BDC. Now fill the entire cylinder up with a length of nylon "clothesline" through the spark plug hole. Then use a normal breaker bar, you might have to stand on it or use a cheater pipe, but works every time for me

I spent a couple hours trying to get mine off with breaker bars and whatnot... but in the end, an impact (which is now mine) gun pulled it off in like three seconds. Make sure you're running at least 90-100 psi into the gun, and throw in some air oil for the gun (to make it fully efficient) and keep shooting it. If that doesn't work, use the breaker bar techniquie, it'll work fine...

good luck
