help, i think my tranny is broken
when i start off, my car squells like the power steering belt and alternator belt are loose. it stops when the disc fully grabs. then when i shift into another gear, it squeels until the disc fully grabs. any thoughts to what it could be.
anything new on your car? new belts, new clutch? also what generation is your prelude? check out the clutch master cylinder if its a 4th gen.
the thing is i just rebuilt my tranny. i had an act stage 3 clutch put it, new pilot bearing, and a new throw out bearing as well. also ihad new belts put in too.
it's the throwout bearing. i'll bet 100 bucks you used the ACT one, didnt you. I put in my ACT and the same thing happened to me. I called ACT, and they said they've never heard of this problem. yeah, right. . . .
use the honda throwout. . . . .

The guy that did my install might have used the act throwout bearing, but i told him to use the factory throwout. but i didn't do the work, so i really don't know. i think i might just take it back to the shop that did the work
When I had my trans. in my lude re-built at Honda(under warranty), they lubed the throwout bearing and it made that noise. After they replaced it correctly the noise went away.

OK, i am very sure that the bearing ACT included, is the same thing as the OEM honda. I have checked the part #'s myself, and I was one of the first people to bitch and moan about that problem to them over 2 years ago.
I have a friend who had a squeaky bearing, so we spent 5 hours removing the tranny, only to find the OEM honda bearing causing the squeak.

ok i'm gonna check with the shop that did the work. when my car is not in gear, it doesn't make any noise, only when i shift into gear. so is it definetly my throwout bearing?
