Default My "virgin" track run.. disappointed

well, last night was the first night in my 2 1/2 years of owning my car to take it to the track.

best time - 15.83 reaction time of 1.13

obviously, i'm not a great driver yet. thought i'd do better than that though.

i want to go NA and break 14's. Any suggestions on mods?

Break 14s as in break into the 14s, or break 14.0 ?

if you gut it with bolts on you should hit high 14's

NOt too be a punk, but with only those bolt-ons in your signature and assuming you are running street tires...I would be totally shocked if you went below 15.2 sec.

I ran a 14.8 full interior (including spare) with just AEM CAI and RS*R catback. My 14.5 was when I removed the seats and spare. I say work on your launches. What was your trap speed? What was your 60 foot time? A good 60' would be a 2.2 or 2.3 on street tires. As far as reaction time (nothing to do with your 1/4 mile time), let the clutch out until its just about to grab...and on the last yellow let it out, thats good for .6XX or .5XX reaction times (.500 is perfect on a standard tree). As far as launching, I lowered my tire pressure to 25psi, and slipped the clutch quickly (to get a little wheel spin, but not too much) from about 5000-6000rpms. That should be all u need to know, and above all, practice.

Thanks guys. I'm going back next wed to run some more.

allmotor.. no offense taken. i know i'd have to do more mods to break into 14s. hence my asking for suggestions.

just out of curiosity, how much more does a sedan weigh than a coupe?

I'd change your intake for one. Maybe get the AEM CAI or even better get the comptech icebox. Just a thought. But, practice is where your going to find better results. I've seen stock GSR's run around 15.0 -15.3 easy.

Haven't actually run mine yet so I'm all talk

i have skunk2 manifold, aem type R intake, dc 4-1, test pipe, WS cat back, plugs, wires, ignition advanced 2 degrees over stock, aem p.s. and alt. pulleys, and AC belt cut off. with all of this i should easily hit a low 14.5. the time i have in my signature was with out the manifold, i had regular GSR aem cold air, and no test pipe. i also had my back seats and trunk gutted. and one i snapped my dc short throw from shifting so hard. well just thought i would post this for some reason, it feels like it fits in with the convo

very true.

another thing, elevation, temperator, and humity all play a factor in how well your car will preform.

Maybe were your at a 15.8 is as good as a 15.2 where I'm at.

quicker reaction time
better launch
quicker shifting

then you can break 14's easily.

What are you talking about, I hit 15.08 with full interior, spare tire, evereything, with only springs and shocks, clutch and flywheel, ES100 tires, and K&N filter.

that was also with a horrible 2.4 60' time. I just can't seem to get my 60' below 2.3.

Hey man, try some different tires at the track. I ran the same Kumho tires and had horrible 60' times until they were pretty much bald and then they started hooking =\ . Kinda strange but with a 2.1 60' on street tires I really didn't bitch. Anyways, good luck with your car and just keep practicing.

Just get some more work done, tuning, and practice and you will get into the 14's easy. Hell a few years ago i ran a 14.1@97mph full interior street driven 4 door GSR. Of course I was and still am making decent power and had and have quite a few more mods then you do.

Just work on your 60ft, you mentioned reaction time and I'm sure you know that doesn't effect E.T. what so ever. Get your 60ft to around 2.1-2.2 and you should run high 14's with a couple more mods.

BTW 4 door Integra is around 80lbs heavier than the coupe. ITR is even lighter.

you can easily get into 14's w/ the mods you have now. ALl i have is AEM short ram intake, and Thermal exhaust, B&M short shifter and i got 15.1... i can easily get into 14's w/ just THESE mods cuz my launches suck.

Don't feel bad, my first time at the track I ran a 16.5 Then I started to mod my car. I am now at 14.8 w/ 2.0 60's.
