taller tires on 1995 Integra GSR?
I'm looking to raise the ground clearance on a 1995 GSR Integra. The std tire is a 195/55-15. Anybody know if I can successfully go up to a 195/60 or hopefully 195/65? Please report negative results as well! Thanks everybody.

I'm guessing you're still at stock ride height in which case I don't see a problem. There's definitely pleny of room, especially if you're only upping your aspect ratio by 5 or 10%.
I'm looking at buying the GSR from a friend. Its a great deal but I have off-road parking, (altho I don't need a 4WD). I'm afraid to damage the rims with a 55mm-profile tire. The car needs new tires anyway. If you have alternative suggestions, I'm happy to hear them.
Thanks for replying.

You could consider a set of 14" wheels with properly sized tires. This would provide you with the increased wheel protection you want (due to the taller sidewall) but would still maintain the stock overall diameter, thus leaving your gearing, speedometer, odometer, etc., unaffected.

I doubt you will damage a stock wheel w/ stock 55-series tires. I actually drove on gravel roads and off road to construction sites for about a week in my 3" lowered GS-R w/ 205/50 tires on stock wheels, no problems.

what's wrong with that? You've never seen an ITR compete in rally before? No big deal, it probably does alright. I'd rather see it on a rally course than on a drag strip.
another good point is... all 195/55/15 tires are sport tires.. meaning the treadwear on it sucks compared to others.. + it cost slightly more. I'd go with the 195/60/15, size is meant for a family car and is easier to find. I personally have that size on my civic that's lowered with sportlines. Although it rubs (o well), i like it. only rubs when i try to make a U turn or something. you can use 195/65/15, but... ehhh.. why???
