Default What should I do if I cant identify bearing colors?

Ok, so I'm SOL when it comes to pre ordering my bearings before hand. I have to know the exact bearing colors for the rods, correct?

But WHAT IF I cannot identify the colors on the bearings? My motor has about 80K miles on it. Should I still be able to tell? What about worst case scenario? What should I do?

Rod bearings have the codes stamped on the crank.

Cross reference teh numbers etched on the side of the two rod-halves with the letters imprinted on the crank counterweights.

You have to keep track of which rod came from which cylinder to do this properly.

Also, make sure you're getting the cylinder order correct or you'll be reading the letters in backwards order.

Worst case scenario is to mic or plastigage teh old bearings in their original spots and try to go up or down in size to hit the clearances you want.
