Default Climate control not lighting up. Where are the bulbs?

Assuming I figure out how to remove my climate control assembly, how to you replace the bulbs that light all the buttons up? What kind of bulb does it use? 194 wedge-style bulbs?

Here's my crap:

Yes.. I've been looking at how to change all of that to blue.. so its been in and out and in and out the whole time.. uhh if I'm not mistaken all of that is controled by LEDs.. and most of it is on one LED.. but anyway..

-REmove the hazard Light
-Remove the Rear Defog light
-The AC line (that moves it from hot to cold is attached still) ... on passenger side under the glove department is a cable.. take that cable off..
-Unscrew both of those screws behind the hazard and defog switches.. then the whole assembly will come out..
- From there it is easy to figure out.. What I'm looking at is replacing all of those LEDs and putting blue ones in .. .. while its out you could do that.. but its 3 dollars a pop for the LEDs at radio shack .. you can find them on ebay for less.. make sure you have resistors..

By the way why are your lights White and mine are Amber? Do you have a 98 and 94-97 are diff?

No he's talking about the illumination lights, not the individual button lights (the one that lights up when you push the button). The bulbs that illuminate the climate control cluster are tiny little bulbs that come with plastic bases. There's four of them, and you have to order them from Acura. It's not a commercially available bulb, at least not available at any auto parts stores.

You know, I tried to replace those bulbs and and I went to honda and
they're like $9 ea. I say F this. I went to an autoparts store they have the glass bulb w/o the plastic for something like .49 cents. I buy a bunch.
get home remove bulbs from plastic base w/ pliers. they come right
out. GUESS WHAT? .49 cent bulbs don't fit in plastic base.
BACK to honda. $50.00 in dashboard bulbs. "We make it simple".
Sometimes, I'm not so sure.

yeah you can only buy them from Acura, and they're usually an arm and a leg for each tiny little bulb.... my suggestion is to find a junk yard and take the little bulbs from an old integ's climate control

Here's the breakdown of the climate control. It's on Acura Carland's website under, "heater control". This illustration doesn't show where the LED's are though:

Well I don't know what you're talking about here, but the problem ebelp is having w/ the heater not illuminating is because two of those four bulbs are burned out. It is #1 in the pic above. There are 4 total, 2 go in from above, and 2 go in below. I went ahead and replaced all 4 of mine, so I have a couple extras on hand. They were about $3 each from Carland Acura. I also tried replacing them with something from an auto store, but these bulbs are smaller than anything that auto stores sell. You have to order them.

Oh, I also replaced my hazard switch illumination light (make the triangle symbol light up red), and that bulb is even smaller than the heater bulbs, and costs more, about $4.50.

Sweet. That's what I needed to know. I'll probably just go to my local Acura dealer so I won't get hit with all the handling charges from Acura Carland because has a minimum dollar amount on their orders, and anything less they charge you a fee...

How much you want for the extras, that's 1/2 of what I paid at honda
and I have a discount card. 3 crx's x 5 bulbs per car x $9.50 or $11.00
each = something like $150.00 for working dash lights.
Honda parts prices.

Well if you need that many bulbs I'm sure you could get those from Carland Acura and be at least up to the minimum order amount.

Or you could try Len at Baranco Acura, I hear he has good prices. He's here on H-T too.

I only have 2 extras, and I'm thinking I want to keep them just in case, ya know?

you all dont have to change the bulbs to get different colors.

...take each little button off.
...take a screwdriver (little one) and pop it off, but be carefull not to break them.
...take some fingernail polish and remove the blue/white film that is behind the icons on the buttons.
...get some orange translucent film from a florist
...and take some teflon tape and put the tape down so that during teh day u can still see the icon.
...take some double sided scotch tape and place the translucent film on the teflon tape.
...put back to gether, and now you have amber (itr) climate control.

same with the clock, but just the translucent film. (ther are four little screws to get the plastic piece off of the clock itself. and the clock just pops out from the right side.

you can do the same with the cruise, and the gauges just take 194 wedge bulbs.

just if anyone wanted to know.

Just looks like some kind of retainer that holds parts 10 and 12 together.

btw, can someone describe how to remove part $12 from the climate control so the whole assembly can be removed from the dash? I tried reaching up to the side behind there with my glovebox open, but I can tell what I'm doing.

you have to remove it from the heater duct under the passenger dash area then you will be abale to pull th ewhole thing out. when i did my conversion from blue to orange that was the thing that stumped me. just follow the cable housing down and see where it attaches to the heater duct you should be able to figure it out from there.

as far as the led's there might be a loose connection. if the fuse was out nothing would work including your brake lights.

those leds can be found at radio shack.

and for all of you putting red or orange bulb condoms on your bulbs try this. A dark orange sharpie permanent marker. i did up my stock stereo orange as well and that is how i was able to get it done. it's been over two years anthey are still as orange as the first day i did the diy orange dash kit. if someomne wants pictures you'll have to wait till mtuesday because i am leaving work right now

It looks like a retainer or linkage for the mode control lever.
Do you have lver controls or button contols?
They are different.

I have the same problem as you.

I think I might have acura install them as well because I'm so lost on how to take apart the climate control.
