here it is trailer %99.99 done
here you go, the pretty much final pics of the trailer, jsut a couple small things left like feed the wrie through the tube for the lights so you can;t see it, and get a plate
Also gonna bolt down the deck, we where gonna weld it but drilling and taping will let us remove it should somthing happen, thats what we did with the ramps
Any questions ask away (other than total cost becuase i havn't added it up yet
)

Looks
What about the ramps? Did I miss that part?
My I suggest that you put some backs on those fenders? If not, all manner of crap will assult your car.

trialer is not too heavy next week i plan to get it weighed, if you wnat a guess mmm 800-1000lbs
_ i dunno
Ramps are not in the pic cause i lent them to a friend, they look just the two 8ft sections of trailer, black with the same deck material

The dove tail (back of the trialer that is sloped down) is 4ft long, most trailers have only have a 2ft dove tail. The top of the deck at the back is a mear 13inchs off the ground, with 8ft ramps, ANYTHING can get up

We also made the drivers side fender drop down, by pulling a couple of pins, on top of the tires so teh door can open
The pins also double as holding the ramps in place so a) you never forget to drop the fender before putting a car on, and b) you never forget to raise the fender back up when you are ready to go

Most of them come in a kit you just bolt together. Easier then you'd think.

Wow looks great. You gonna trailer that Orange Monster with it?
One question. Looks like your gonna have a lot of tongue weight as the wheels look pushed far back....especially for towing a FWD car.
Other than that, it looks beautiful

Looks great! Does the extra-long dovetail pose a stability problem when loading a car? Be sure to let us know what your trailer weighs in at. And yes, those of us that have dreamt about building our own treiler are waiting for your final bill. Nice job!
hahah yup
no more bumpy *** michigan roads :D
Ya in the pic it majkes it look pushed really far back, but it's not as bad as it looks. We had a car on it hooked up to a friends Jeep, iw ould guess tounge wait is about 700lbs wich is pretty much perfect. You want to have at minimum 500lbs of tounge weight
thanks

ya it does a bit. Well not stablitly probelms. it just causes alot of leverage and pulls up on the trucks trialer hitch. All we did to help that situation is just slide a block udner the rear bumper of the trailer and it's perfect. It is worth it though, my car does not scrape going up or down at all
Aside from the other questions; (I agree with the fender backing comment)...
Where are the big-*** D-ring tie down points?
What licensing requirements are there in the great white north?
Any torsional flex in that design? I don't see much in the way of cross bracing?
Thanks for sharing! You have some mad-skills and seems, plenty of spare time!

DAMN IT!!!!
I agree about the shields on the inside of the fenders...shouldn't be that difficult to do.

Lit license plate mount?
What kind of brakes are you running on it?
I'm curious on the brake lights. If your car is on it, and there's a car to your rear quarter of the trailer, they're only going see one brake light instead of the two heck, just the decking gets in the way. Are they set too far forward? Usually you should be able to see both brakelights if you're in the rear quarter of the trailer (liek in another lane).
If you're doing some custom fabrication, I'd make it so the fender for the drivers door is removable. This way it won't interfere with the opening and closing of the door when you pull the car on/off the trailer and need to get in and out.
Also... you may need a little cross bracing as someone else said instead of just going straight across... as someone said, for torsional rigidity.
Someone asked about ramps... where are you going to store them?
One more thing... how about some stops at the front of the trailer 'just inscase' your car rolls too far forward.... they'll stop the tires without your car going totally off the deck.

k let me answer eveyones question one at a a time
tie down, hahah
They are not visable, we didin;t want anyhting sticking out of looking like it;s hanging down, once my friend send sme the pics of the trailer with the car strapped down you will see
Licensing, pay $60 get a plate and ownership and off you go
Flex is non existant, the tounge desing goes far back, the triangular tube int he rear helps alot too, and there is lots of bracing that you cannot se either
No problem
hahah mad skills i dunno but thanks
, spare time, it took 3 months i think to get to this stage hahah :D

plate mount on the other side
Brakes nothing yet but we have room to add them later
There are more lights going on. The holes are drilled and wires up they where just taken off for painting. There is amber on each side, and there will be 3 red lights on the rear bumper (a must for trailer over 80inches wide
The fender dropps down by pulling 2 pins, it drops flat on the tires and leaves PLEANTY of room to open the door, even with a socket set sitting on the fender
Cross bracing see above post
Ramps go right downt he middle and get strapped on
Ya i was thinking about stops, we will probably add them once we know where we want the car for proper tounge wait. Friend is going to be getting an Expedition soon, so towing will be no problem

Ya i hope it;s around that weight, i will post the weight when i weigh it
Cal, ya Jason (CJ_FLY) painted it, he did a great job, the fenders are like a mirror

</TD></TR></TABLE>I would STONGLY suggest adding some electric brakes. Relying on the Expedition brakes to stop both a 6800lb truck, trailer and car.... not a very good idea.
If the track is only a few blocks away, go for it. But if not, brakes WILL help in decreasing your stopping distance in emergency situations... when you really need them.

ya good point, we probably will add them to one axle
thanks
A friend used a suburban to tow a MONSTER trailer that had no brakes. it could probably hold 10,000lbs on it with ease. had a civic hatch on it and had no problems
The trialer and car will probably not weight more than 3500lbs wich is not much, but we will see how it goes
