Is my new used teg haunted by a ricer?

I recently bought a 91 teg.
So, I'm taking off the ghetto-rig ricer fog lights.
And I'm sitting on the driveway unbolting the front bumper to get
at the screws holding the fogs in, when all of a sudden for NO
reason the fan/s come on. WTF, the car hadn't been running since early this morning. I didn't even think it was possible for the fan/s to go on by themselves. There's a temp. sensor in the block, right?
Maybe rice boy set it up to turn on by themselves to impress his girlfriend.
Or maybe he wired the fog lights into the fan circuit. Even, possible?
I HAVE heard of fans staying on or not coming on at all or even in my rex's, coming on a few minutes after you shut them of, due to the heat
build-up. But coming on hours later?? How is that possible?
Could the sun beating on the car heat it up so much the fan comes on?
What could cause this or IS my new teg haunted
?

Older Hondas had fans wired to come on at a certain temp, regardless if the car was on or off. Newer Hondas after around 94 or so don't do this.

So, both of you guys say the fan sensor is ambient temperature
sensitve as well as coolant temp. sensitive?
None of my 4 CRX's ever did this?
I'm going to have to ask a couple of friends who have old tegs, if their
fans come on for no reason when the car doesn't even have the key in the ignition.
Thanks for the help fellas.
I guess I should unplug the fan so my batt. doesn't die, huh?

the DA fan's will not turn on unless the key is turned to the second notch. was this the case? they can also turn on when the key is in if the a/c button has been depressed.

Thanks, I'll check tomorrow and see if that's the case. I think the key was in the ignition, but it was in the lock position. But, what sensor signal
would make it go on? What if key was in lock position and it went on?
Bad ignition switch?

possibly. are you positive on what position the key was?
another question: is the radiator and the fans original?
and... which fan was it? the smaller(left side facing forward) is usually for the a/c and the larger(right side facing forward) is for the cooling system. however, both can be used for cooling when the cars starts overheating.
