I have a 99 civic CX hatch and I want to get front and rear swaybars for it because it handles like a turd . I am torn between CTR front with ITR rear and a beaks kit with the OEM hardware, or a Suspension Techniques front and rear for a non-swaybar car. Which one would be the better choice as far as cost effective and performance wise? Let me hear your opinions so I can make the correct choice. Thanks.

 

cost effective=st
better fit and performance IMO= factory

ctr uses a 22mm rear sway also, if you were thinking the usdm itr was bigger. jdm itr had a 23mm.

 

I think that the usdm ITR is easier to get, I think that beaks sell them with their kits.

 

suspension techniques is good. it may be be a tiny bit pricy but it's worth it. I use on my '92 & '95

 

with a ctr front, you need the lcas and strut forks. same as with si front sway. you can use a ex front sway w/o changing lcas and forks

 

I know about the other stuff I need for that, but if it is better it will be worth it to me to get that suff.

 

i have the ST bars and i must say.. my hatch handles.. i have a 98.. if you were to do all OEM you would spend well over $300 where as the ST's are around $280 i believe.. go ST i have no complaints..

 

Do you know what the diameter of the ST bars are?

 

i have the st front bar and itr rear bar with beaks kit on my 94 coupe but im changing the front bar to oem... honda tuned these bars from the factory, dont **** with the balance.

I disagree on the balance issue. ST is tuned as good if not better in my opinion, but if you want to go oem fronts get them from me please.

 

You can't go wrong with either one. Just get the cheaper one.

 

I picked up a cheap set of ST sways off of ebay, just keep your eyes out. I payed $190 shipped for them brand new. I kept the front bar but ditched the rear because it is necessary to drill your subframe to get it to work. I just went with a Skunk2 rear swaybar instead, its a lil thicker and wont weaken the subframe. Rick

 

I don't have experience with any of those....but I installed a set of Eibach's front and rear set....and love it! The 2" drop helps too.

Not sure on the front bar, but the rear is 21mm.

I'm in the sambe boat as you are right now.

 

Can you use the beaks kit with the ST rear bar?

You will have to drill the subframe regardless of what swaybar you put on. I had to drill out some holes in my Integra to mount the ITR rear sway bar.

My friend has ST bars front and rear on his 95 DX coupe. They're alright I guess, but the way they mount onto the car SUCKS in my opinion. The way the ends of the bars are shaped and the way they bolt to a bracket on the lower shock fork just doesn't do it for me. Also the front bar passes UNDER the exhaust and everything else

Needless to say he is getting everything needed (control arms, etc.) to be able to install a front ST bar made for an EX, and also an OEM ITR rear bar.

Would this combo be ok? St front sway bar and the comptech rear kit? also for a EK

 

The size of the ST bars is around 25mm front and 19mm rear. Rick
