i have an aem short ram air >< i have seen the same type "no name" intake for a fraction of the cost....Although I love my aem, and would recommend them to anyone who wants one, if you are on a low budget you might really want to seriously consider the cheaper no name brands till you can swing the higher priced intake >> truth is it is only a pipe and a filter. I should add though, and i assume many would agree with me, that the filter is the most important part of the intake, and therefore should be of quality, say a K&N filter...... anyone care to comment on that though?

If you buy one of those cheap intakes, buy a good filter, like a K&N

most intakes are the same...only difference is price and name. What you gotta consider is...short ram - 85 bucks for 5 horse or cold air 100 bucks for 5-10 horse? Most would consider the cold air intake just for that little bit of gain...plus it's not a whole lot more expensive neither. So don't blow 85 bucks now and regret it later when you should've just added a few bucks for the cold air setup.

Save your money and buy a quality cold air intake like AEM. Sure it's more $ but it's CARB certified, comes with all the mounts and tubes and plugs, etc. to make more HP. The colder the air to the intake the more the HP.
Here's a link to the one I installed in my 90 EX Accord.

I don't think buying an AEM is neccessary but I do think you should buy from a place where you either know you will get good products/service or a place where you can see/return the intake (ie a store). I say this because I bought a short ram intake for my 2000 accord off of ebay for like $35. The only thing was that it was short by like 2 inches. I ended up having to buy silicone, an exhaust pipe, some paint, and a couple more clamps. So in the end I spent about $50 and wasted a couple hours. Also, I dont' know if this intake is safe or even if it does any good cause of this messed up rigging. And the worst part...IT'S FREAKIN GHETTO.
