stock 97 accord LX auto vs. stock 99 audi 1.8T who wins?
Two of my friends are arguing over these two sweet machines, and I'm looking for some outside opinions, looking for a winner in both autoX style race, and 1/4 mi...Anyone know from experience?

hhhhmmm...
well, having owned both...AUDI!!!!! 1.8T torque is a killer. you're going to get killed. autoX, you may have a chance if you're a skilled driver and the other guy's a monkey, but 1/4 mile, just pay him now and you won't get embarassed. (i'm not tryin' to be mean or an ***, but my wife had a wolfsburg and that damn thing was fun!)

I actually own both cars and my audi beats my accord when it was stock. Audi has better take off and turns better because of up graded suspension. Which Audi does he have though becuase there is a sport package with stiffer suspension.
well as i said, it's 2 of my monkey friends, not me, i'm working on a hybrid GSR hatch...neither of them are skilled drivers, but my money is on the accord for autoX and audi for 1.4 mi

umm you actually had to ask this question???
the accord 130hp v audi 180hp..hmm let me think. stock v. stock with a good driver the 1.8T will crush the accord in the autocross. my friend has a 1.8T wagon and last year on stock suspension layed the smack down on mustang GTs on the autocross course. he has a garret chip too.

First of all, the A4 is a claimed 150hp at the crank...This one has been dyno'ed at 114whp...you figure a 12% loss for the accord, and it's at 114.4 hmmmm accord is about 300+ lbs lighter..plus the A4 driver is a monkey. Second, the garrett chip adds about 50hp, and even without it, the mustang GT is about the least graceful autoX car I've ever seen..I took a Saleen by about 5 seconds in a stock hatch.
This isn't the David vs. Goliath everyone is making it seem, I think it may get interesting

20 to 30% ?? I admit I've never dyno'ed an auto, but that's hard to believe..most 5 spd honda's lose 10-15%, do you have any dyno sheets for an auto? that's amazingly sad if it's true. Also, I don't see how quattro would make any difference, since traction really isn't going to be an issue about 90% of the time.

you have 4 wheels pulling you instead of 2. Even though you wheels are spinning you are still going to pull better with 4. And an auto transmission is a parasite for power. Steals a lot of it. That is why you find most high performance cars to be a 5 spd
