Philips HID vs PIAA Super White halogens - new pics
Aaron (MmmVTEC) and I took these pictures last night. Aaron has PIAA Super White bulbs in his low beams and I, of course, have the Philips HID kit. Notice how "Super White" the piaa's look.
Just imagine how dramatic the difference would be between the stock low beams and the HID's. I hope this comparison helps the people who are contemplating joining the group buy from http://www.visualdynamics.ca/

On a serious note:
Josh, do you ever use your driving lights anymore? Could you possible take a picture w/ your driving lights and HID on? I have driving lights (not yet installed) and if HID is a lot brighter than the driving lights, I might not install 'em all together. Thanks.

Josh: your's almost looks like they are aimed a little bit on the low side.. nice tho
True, my PIAA's look whiter and Josh's HIDs look more blue FROM THE PICS, but not the case. In person, Josh's are WHITE and my PIAA 'Superwhite' bulbs.... well, they look yellowish compared to HIDs.
We talked about this too and the pics really overdramatize this. Not to say that they are not worth it, 'cuz I think they are. I just need to invest in other areas of my GS-R right now.

Hmm, I thought yours were "driving lights" and not foggies. It seems that your fog lights are white in color and not yellow. Either way, thank you for your answer and keeping us informed on your HID performance.
Holy ish, we're only 3 people away from the $400 price (includes the -$10 for having the group with the most buy-in's)! Sweet! And nearly 2 weeks to go still

Cheeze: Well 2 once I signup, I'm having them shipped to my work addy but forgot my bcards @ work and forgot the address. haha oh well, I'll email Trevor tomm with the address.
400 to have whiter light.... i just cant see myself spending money for that. Not knocking on them... I actually think they are cool, but I wouldn't spend that kind of money on lights unless I was more than able to afford everything else I want.

I wonder what effect underdrive pulleys would have on these? I know when I'm idling my alternator spins so slow that all my interior lights and headlights dim (significantly).

Probably little or no effect. However, it should be obvious to everyone that flicking the HIDs on and off rapidly will wear on the igniters and bulbs. So yall try not to do that now, y'hear?

All the pics I've seen of the Phillips HIDs on the ITR doesn't look like the HIDs on the Bimmer's. The beam looks scattered. I noticed that the HID beam from the bimmer's is very concentrated. Maybe it's just the way the pics are taken. Anybody know what I'm talking about?

The Bimmers have a type of headlamps that self-adjusts so that it won't glare other drivers. That's probably why you see different colors at different angles. Quote me if I'm wrong.

It is obvious that the HID bulbs provide more light immediately in front of the car which gives them the appearance of being pointed downward, but then if you look at the second pic you see how far out ahead of the car the light up the road, and there is another 15-20 feet as someone else pointed out.. that is perfect for me in deer-land Upstate NY.. so I am sold, glad I joined the groupbuy and cant wait to get them in my car!
the pics sure do a good comparo.. I had seen PIAA bulbs before on friends cars and they impressed me with their intensity.. cant imagine the difference in person...!
and I am gettin' 'em for safety, NOT to show off around town...
