i decided that i was tired of looking at my ugly flaking/rusting paint job so i decided to finally get off my @ss and do something about it. i've read a lil on preping a car but decided to gain some muscle and start hand sanding. well,... it's was all going well until i started to sand my other front fender. i noticed after i sanded the paint off the primer was a different color. one fender was grey the other was reddish/brown then black then bare metal.

which is the real fender? which primer color does honda use?

well i decided to sand down to bare metal and began to really like the way it gave off the somewhat mirror/brushed aluminum look.

has anyone ever just decided to clear coat over the bare polished(sanded) metal and leave it at that. i seriously think it would look dope. don't know if it's against the law though, since it would reflect the sun/lights so greatly. well all coments welcome.

good luck getting to a spray booth with a bare metal car... it'll be rusty so fast

plus you'll have shitty swirl marks everywhere

 

i'm going to use a d/a sander then prime the car then sand that again. i'm not going to sand the whole thing by hand. there won't be any swirl marks after i get down the the the higher rated sand paper. car is getting painted very soon. i see what you mean though.
