Default Bought a set of rims and tires

Ok. So today I bought new wheels. 17" 7-spoke white rims (Katana brand? whatever that is) with 215/40/17 kumho ecsta supra 712. I also bought a car alarm with a pager thing. All together it is $1800 with tax included.

The set of wheels was supposed to be 1650 and the alarm was 450 installed, but i bargained with them down to 1800. SO i think its a good deal..

Now, i am thinking into the future, but will i be able to put h&r race springs(2" front, 1.8" back drop) on my 2000 prelude (not sh)? and what kind of stuff do i need for the rims? any spacers or hubs or special lockable lug-nuts? Is there anything else I need to do before or after installing these wheels?

Ill post pics as soon as i get them on

*sigh*

yes, drop your car. Then add a a camber correction kit, then have it four wheel aligned.

and next time, save up $1800... then save about $700 more and add a used turbo kit.

Whats a camber correction kit?

Ill get the wheel aligned, but i heard that some people have plastic hubs between the rim and the rotor, is there any point to get this fancy stuff?

when you lower a car you mess with the suspension geometry. the camber is basically the angle your tire sits at. the pupose of the camber correctin kit is so your tire looks like this | and not like this \

If you decide to lower your ride, I would sugget that you should get some sort of coilover suspension so you have the ability to adjust your height.

about the plastic hubs between your rims and rotors.
you are talking about "spacers" and "adaptors". these are only used for cars which don't fit rims, for buyers who want the rim to fit on the car.
it's not ever a good idea, as you should always buy the correct rims for your car WITHOUT the spacers.
but, i assume your wheels did not come with those (hopefully not).

and if you lower your ride, you will need shocks too because your stock shock absorbers will go out.
good luck. welcome to honda-tech. and you will learn a lot.

Yes they do... I used to sell rims and tires and I bought some Kumho Ecsta Supra 712's in 205/40-17's because of its price and they are absolutely THE worst tires for dry traction. On the first couple days I've had them, I made a hard left onto a U on-ramp and almost crashed and died. I've never used such sorry *** tires before. I used to be able to take that kind of a turn no sweat on Falken's (non-Azenis), BFG's, and Nitto's. Even my stock tires would've been able to dig through a turn like that. These Kumho's are like riding on ice. They screech through every painted intersection and I can't launch my car past 2000 rpm. At 2500, it'll peel out and make me bounce my tach off the rev limiter.

I wanna try the Falken Azenis because everyone that has them, loves them. But they don't make one in my size. I guess I gotta use my stock rims and throw on the 215/45-16's.

I am on the Toronto Prelude Club forums lately, and I asked them if its ok to use the stock shocks with some h&r springs, and they say it works fine.

I can buy the springs for about $150 CAD used, so thats a pretty good deal.

I dont want to waste too much money on suspension yet, cause I will get a fully adjustable set next year or the year after (when i have more money)

the spacers you are talking about are called hub-centric rings. they are a spacer the makes sure they rim is perfectly centered on you hub. they help with wheel shake at higher speeds. the place you are getting the rims should be able to get them for you. they are some what specific for the car and the rim. and the chamber kits are a good idea if you plan on lowering your car. if you dont your gonna wear the insides of your tires alot quicker then the outside. plus the tire wont put the most rubber to the ground if it isnt level with the ground. get the camber kit if you lower your car. hope this helps.

they will work, but for how long? when you lower the car and do not replace the shocks with something stiffer, your stock shocks will wear out faster. don't be surprised when your ride quality goes to ****.

Please tell me you are kidding. Three of my friends who have BMWs use these tires on the track and autoXs pretty much EVERY weekend. They have had NO issues like yours. One even has a turbo M3 too

Also, you almost spun out making a U-turn in a FWD drive?? Was it raining?? Snowing?? Ice?? Oil tanker spill oil ALL over the intersection??

sorry, I meant to say that my car almost plowed into the wall. Its strange because I just talked to another guy that went auto-x w/them and he swears by them too. Maybe I got a freaking defective set. I don't see how its possible but I had him take my car around and he agreed and said I should take it up w/Kumho. I think its because he's running wider tires on his S2000. Maybe its a size specific issue or maybe its because my cars heavy *** f**k. Dunno, but it sucks.

I have heard good things about the kumho 712s

and I am not too worried about them being horrible tires, because it is quite rare that I would be driving at breakneck speeds where something dangerous could happen
