Injen CAI probs?
I recently got an Injen intake with the cold air extension for my 2000 GSR. Maybe I didn't install it right, but the fit seems *terrible*. The center of the piece appears as if its supposed mount on top of the stock rubber washer, but putting it on top causes it to bump on the front tower strut bar. The CAE barely fit where it is supposed to go. Has anyone had any luck with this particular intake? The instructions that came with the Injen were pretty lame and came on a cheaply photocopied sheet. I checked the part numbers of what shipped with what is listed on Injen's website and they match. I'm stumped.
I've seen that with a few intakes. Unfortunately, some strut tower braces don't work well with CAIs due to the way their made. Most manufacturers don't care if their part works with others' so they don't go to the trouble to test them.
The strut bar on my car is still the factory one. You think Injen would take that into concideration when designing this thing.
There really isn't any way to put this thing in backwards either. I'll hunt for my brother's digital camera and try to post a pic. Be warned, the camera sucks.

Would trimming about a quarter inch off the extension allow it to fit better? I have the Injen, but I had to trim about 2" off of the extension because of my supercharger, then it fit nicely.

Well, it looks like the problem is that it's too short, not too long. If it were an inch longer, it would clear the area next to the coolant reservoir much easier. If anyone is in the Austin/Round Rock, TX area, would they be willing to look at it and see if I botched the install? It looks like a simple procedure, I think the piping just doesn't fit.
