First of all WTF happened to your screen name?

Seriously though, someone assembled that strut wrong. They left out one of the washers and that is the end result. That is a the most common mistake I see on at-home lowering jobs here at my shop.
I see if I can find an exploded view of a strut and show you exactly what I mean.
BTW:
Who lowered your car? I'd check the rears too if I were you.

Here:

Looks like either number 6 and/or number 14 are missing.
That is the problem - it can be nothing else, trust me.
Tear that bitch apart and assemble it like this picture I just posted here.

Since the car was lowered, or what?
Have you had any recent messings with that side of the suspension?
Usually it will pop out like that immediately or at least shortly after assembling it like that...

Isnt #7 the piece that would stop the strut from doing that. Its the piece that actually seats onto the machine lip of the strut. I might have the wrong # with the part im describing but either way its a washer looking deal that actually seats on the strut shaft.

Number 7 is the foam rubber bumpstop itself.

dang Tom, that is a crappy pic right there
Here's a better one, you are missing #15 in this diagram (#14 in Tom's diagram that he posted). That is the only thing it can be. The washer that goes on top of the bushings won't make any difference as to it doing that or not.

UP YOURS PAL!

I was looking at the wrong thing. the bushings are most definately black rubber.
I'm at work and I'm distracted a lot.
Edit:
Chalk this up as time number 3 that i've been wrong on H-T.

how is it possible for the strut to do that
it would have to compress the spring to come that high
unless they are very short springs, but i still do not understand how such a simple part can do so much damage with out it
im riding with no dustcovers, cut bumpstops and possibly missing that part (unless that is the bumpstop washer) and my suspension seems fine, but the new springs go in next week hopefully... am i in jeopardy toooo?
