Default gone muddin' in t5 at summit point

rspeed and i hit nasa virginia's summit point hpde over the weekend. the track kicks *** and warren **** kicks an equal amount of *** as an instructor. i've done some 8-10 hpde's and i had my first 2 offs ever - both at the braking point into T5. we had a little rain over the weekend so the runoff area was a bit of a swamp. this was the result:

warren got a little muddy

yes, we got stuck in the middle of a small pond and had to be towed out. the tow truck couldn't get behind me so they had to yank me out by my wheel . fortunately the alignment is fine, i didn't lose any wheel weights, and my new toda header looks to be dent free.

Both offs were very mild. In both cases, I probably would have gone for the save, but I would not have wanted a student to attempt a save. You made the right choices. If ABS engages, which it was, it's going to be harder to turn the car. Stay out of ABS, and you can trail the car to point it where you want. The save begins the instant you hit the brakes, and realize you're a little too hot.

The car didn't get all filthy til we tried to get going, and then it threw up a wheee bit of mud

p.s. Awesome job of driving this weekend!

Aaron does a killer job of listening to the instructor, and accomplishing the instructions, lap after lap.

I believe the correct term is the "5-8 expressway"

Glad to hear that it's just mud on the car. I guess your Toda header ain't so blinging now.

There was a blue STi that wasn't driving on the track but pick up numerous people around paddock to go "muddin" somewhere. Too bad I didn't take a pic.

Haha. Muddin'.

I love Summit Point. I really need to make myself to get on the track down there.. I may try the Time Trials at the HypeRfest.. went to it last year. You just have to park at the carosel with a 6-pack. Really good times.

Yeah, I was waiting for him and when the session ended there was no Aaron. About 10 minutes later, out rolls the muddy R.

Glad everyone had a good and safe weekend. It was great to meet the whole NYC crew and thanks for letting me park on Type R Island.

I thought the mud in the parking lot was bad enough. Aaron, as long as you and your car are ok. Type r island was cool. It was nice meeting you too Chris

keep the name, poop.

i gave the car a quick bath (outside and INSIDE). i checked the underside and the only damage was a broken spring on my toda header; the springs are for show anyway.
