Prepping for first Auto-X event.
Hey guys, there's an Auto-X event in town this Sunday and I'm thinking about entering. Any setups/preparations I should make beforehand? Any and all help would be very much appreciated! Also, any tips would be appreciated as well
I'm looking forward to it!

IMHO... Make sure your car runs ok and doesn't need any significant parts or service (tires, brakes, oil change, etc.) Torque your lug nuts, make sure your battery is secure, make sure all your tires have 35+ psi, and GO HAVE FUN!

Good luck,
Jon

Clean e v e r y t h i n g out of the inside of your car. This includes the spare change that falls inbetween your seats. It can slide up from parts unknown and wind up right under your pedals. Don't ask me how I know.
Take out your driver's floormat too, if you use one.

You need shoes. SCCA rules you can't drive or be in paddock with open toe footwear so bring a pair of comfy shoes.
Sunscreen: as mentioned even if its not sunny you can get burned over 8,8,10 hours. I got red when it was raining all day.
Water: stay hydrated I bring a cooler with some snacks and a sandwich. Your not suposed to drink cafine but if you are like me and drink it daily I bring a coke. If I don't I go through withdrawl.
Be ready to learn and have fun. Autocross people are good folk so feel free to ask questions.
Where is the event?

Have fun. Don't be intimidated or think that everyone is watching you. We all were new to auto-x once and we all remember what that was like.
Do ask for help. auto-xers are nice people and almost anyone will be willing to help you with any questions you might have or let you borrow any equipment you need. Some groups have a novice program that will set you up with an instructor. Ask at registration.
Plan to arrive early. Try to get there before registration opens.
Don't lock your car or turn on your car alarm - autoxers are very very honest people.
Don't modify your car. Don't do anything an import drag racer might do (like remove the headlight for more aiflow). Don't worry. Have fun (see above).
