Default lsd question for those who have changed their stock lsd

hey guys...come to find out my differential broke in my b16 tranny a few days ago so i need to replace it. i was just wondering for those who have changed from the stock type r lsd to a different brand, was it worth the money for the difference it made? i am going back and forth between the type r and a quafe yet im on a budget (college) thanks for your help in advance.

I have an ITR LSD in my GSR transmission and I haven't had a problem yet. Only problem you are going to run into is you are going to need the ring gear, pinion gear, and associated parts so that you can run that diff.

I think both options will cost you roughly the same amount...

personally i would put a spoon, kaaz, or ats LSD in a tranny before an itr if i had the money for one.....spoon would be my first choice since it comes with new bearings...

You should be able to find a used ITR LSD for 400-450$

Correct. However he is putting it into a b16 transmission, which requires a ring gear, counter shaft/pinion gear (IIRC), plus some new bearings. The ring gear alone is just over $200, which is how I figured w/ the cost of the other parts he would be up around that magical $800 mark.

type R lsd into B16a hydro tranny

parts needed (easiest way)

ITR LSD
ITR LSD carrier barrings (closed)
JDM Final drive setup

this can be had for about 850ish.....that is what i would do with b16 tranny....plus you get a good final drive!
