Just came back from Summit Point....
1. The ATS FD is the BEST. I am not sure if you are very familiar with Summit. But, the only turns I had to go into 3rd gear was turn 1 and 5-7 (the carousel). I was able to take turn 3, 4, 8, 9, 10 all in 4th gear (10 was almost 5th gear, I almost redlined between turns 9-10 in 4th gear). Oscar who was in advanced with me had to go into 2nd gear for 1 and the carousel. He had to do a lot more shifting to try and stay in the powerband. I am not sure how the ATS will be on other tracks, but it was great at Summit.
2. No power steering is GREAT. I have the breather tube mod and the feedback was awesome. I knew where the front tires were everytime. No floating. Just great feel.
3. Kumhos V700 love low cold pressures. I started at about 28 cold and they heated up to about 35 hot. Tires never went away, even after 1/2 hour session.
If you have a chance to do the HypeRfest HPDE 1, I would do it. Or the time trial (which I am going to do. I want to see how far behind I am from ECHC guys.)
Thanks R-speed for the company. We had a blast. You guys are the best. I think most of you will have to get out of novice and go to Intermediates (especially, Edwin, Marc and Kyle) I will post up some pics tomorrow.

Much fun was had at Summit Point. R-Speed and "ITR island" definitely made it an absolute blast. That and the constant chanting of "steak".
It was great meeting some of the honda-tech'ers that I've never met before! It's nice when you can put a face to the person behind the post.
I may stay in novice for one or two more HPDEs. Perhaps it was the cold that I caught on Thursday threw my focus off a bit and had a hard time getting the line consistantly this weekend. I guess I'll discuss this with you and Oscar one of these days.

I have to use 2nd gear in both T1 and T5 in order to stay in power band, otherwise those LeMan look alike car will push me off the track
As Edwin said after he sat in both of our car.....my driving was a lot more "busy" compare to you due to the down shift !!!
It was my first time running in HPDE3 (which allow passing everywhere WITH a point-by)
1) It was so exciting to see 4-6 cars side by side breaking into T1.
2) I'm so glad that I could handle all the stress (we have 46 cars in a session, and many of them are monster machine)
3) All setting was right (from tires pressure, brake choice to suspension set up)

I saw 3 of you guys driving from the grand-stand near carousel....I must say you guys really improve a lot.
It's time to consider move up into a different run group

The ATS is a touch short for SP in 4th gear. Really uncomfortably short to me if I'm on 225/45, which I was for Sunday. Without a passenger, I'm at 8400 rpm indicated at T4 entry. Last thing I wanna do is bang the rev limiter in the middle of T4
Like you, I'm also against the rev limiter before the bridge. With 225/50, I'm on the rev limiter around the bridge. I'm in 5th before the end of pit out, and before I can see the start/finish line.
I absolutely LOVE the acceleration on 225/45, but it makes the gearing almost too short for Summit.

Warren is making me seriously think about my tire sizes for next season.

Well... so the thing about that... The car is a whee bit loose, and 5th doesn't quite have enough to keep it as planted as I like through T4. I should have enough gearing with the 225/50. If I pull an Alex at T4, it's probably because I popped the rev limiter.

But no more than two of you were in the turn at the same time, eh?</TD></TR></TABLE>
Not so friendly sometimes....especially in the first session on Saturday, I saw 3 cars side by side blast thur T1 (just like those Zoom Zoom commerical). Anyway, I just let all those big displacement engine go ahead.
On the second day classroom meeting.....we did have a "nice" disscusion about passing (w/o point-by or in front of yellow flag)

Hey David..Just want to say thanks for taking me out.! Cant wait to take out my R at the next event.. Wish I could of stayed for both days..I had fun anyway..
Fellow RSpeed and NASA-Va gang,
I am happy to see everyone made it home safe and sound. It looks like everyone had a great time. I really missed not being there this weekend. I won't be at Hyper-Fest either as I will be trekking around Peru for a few weeks. Hopefully I will see you folks down at VIR in August
Kilo, I see you hooked up with the R-Speed guys. Are you hooked yet? So how does it compare to Drag Racing?

Thanks Dave, I think if it wasn't for you and the R-SPEED crew I would never of even knew what an HPDE was.
glad to hear you made it home
I had an awesome time

I am glad everyone from R-speed is using the ITR for what it was designed for....being thrown around on a race track !!
I am glad everyone is having a fun, fast and safe time.... I definitely want to thank NASA for great HPDE's and great instructors.
Also, I want to thank them for black flagging HPDE 3 on Saturday. If they didn't black flag us, we would of got caught in a BAD rainstorm on the track. That would have been VERY, VERY, VERY dangerous.
