Default Sound limit at Summit?

Does anybody know if there are any db limits at Summit? It looks like I'm probably racing Hyperfest with an open header...

103 dB. Open will probably break sound. NASA doesn't own a meter. BSR does, but the neighbors tend to complain before BSR does.

Open header is REALLY loud. See if you can at least get a short pipe with a downturn. Even that will make a big difference.

I better measure the header and see if anybody going has a test pipe I can borrow...

Thanks for the info.

Considering they allow rotary straight pipes, I think you'll be ok.

yeah, but the difference is the Probe sounds GOOD with open pipes; the 4 cyl Hondas sound like a chainsaw attack on crack when running open pipes

even though i was slow in the Probenstien (1:31.9) I got lots of questions from spectators like "what ya got in dere; it sounds hellacious!!!"

will see you guys in two weeks!!! should be fun!!

I would not worry about it, There was a car their that was 126 or 128 DB and that thing was loud. It was the corvette body car with pipes out the side, Also there was a Factory Five car with very loud exhaust.

You should be fine Matt.

The Vtte was running 1:23 lap times.

Expect the 103 limit to be in force at Hyper Fest. Too many complaints recently.

Also expect a high police presence around the track, security in the track, so drink and drive responsibly (if thats at all possible for race addicts.)

Also lock all your gear up at night....

That Vette was putting 610 to the wheels, and sure as hell was deafening.

Todd, you looked good in the Probe. Still have a stock suspension in that thing?

not completely stock. got a used set of eibach street lowering springs in it. stock oem ford rear struts (perhaps the origs; 180k miles?). used tokico struts up front. addco rear sway bar. orig motor; bone stock internally, never been apart. iceman cold air intake. bosal headers. reid design exhaust.

weight on the scales was 2830 with driver and 1/2 tank gas. she is a heavy pig...

used up the last of my cobalt pads during sats race; had to run street pep boys on sun. it had no brakes whatsoever on sun. had to coast everywhere and brake about 50 car lengths early. even the damn accord got me on sun...! slowed down about 5 secs a lap, at least....

had lots of fun in it, though. its turning out to be one of my most favorite cars lately. it just runs and runs. put gas in it and run it. didn't even burn a drop of oil all weekend. if i could just figure out how to get it to stop; I'd have something...

and thanx for the complements, guys!

Todd, I was looking at the video you posted, and it's little wonder that it sounded so good. You never shift until you hit about 9k on the tach. ANY motor sounds cool spun up that much...

nah. i was babying it in those vids.....

those 2.5 Mazda mills always sounded good, even with the stock exhausts. it justs amplifying its "goodness" running open pipes!

VERY IMPORTANT.

Point your pipe to driver's right at SP for Hfest because the meter is on left. Got a few noise complaints this weekend and don't want to **** off the Summit Point locals. We'll be checking sound at the Hfest.

103db is the limit. Over that and your DQd.

hmmmm. my Civic is fully muffled and sounds like an Insight compared to the Probe.

of course, it's gonna turn lap times approximately 4 seconds slower than the leaders (assuming it finishes!), so I guess i gotta pin all my hopes on a lot of DQ's!

see yall there!

Great pic! thanx!

the black E30 M3 is my good friend Dave Troiano. i stayed in front of him as long as i could; in fact, i even held some tiny hope of holding on til the end of the race on Sat. the big problem was the brake zones. he easily could outbrake me by miles. eventually he slipped around me coming into turn one, and that was that. I chased and chased, but every brake zone he would pull away a little more, a little more. bye bye

that race on Sat was really a fun one; lots of action, passes, etc. lots and lots of off track excursions, especially down in turn 5. i got some good "Days of Thunder" driving thru the dust footage on the cam when 4 cars spun off simultaneously at turn 5.

good, fun, clean racin'!

can't wait till H-fest!
