just like the title says.

ive never been to an HPDE and would like to get to race with some other honda's.

they have events a few times a month for $150

just post a date in which people would be interested

 

I will go, the open lap days are a blast! They never seem to fill up, and your get lots of track time. They are on friday or monday most of the time though, so you will have to take a day off work.

Maybe July 21st? Or Aug. 8th? I think those are both open lap days?

 

according to my schedule from beaver, july 21st is a mercedes club day. but august 8th and september 5, 26th and october 3rd and 17th are all open.

i will be game for any. i would like to make it to at least two before winter.

what type of car will you be driving?

i drive a b18c1 eg hatch

Then this isnt an event for you. If you want to do open lap days you should be an advanced level driver (solo) or licensed - unless the track is providing instructors (didnt sound like it when i looked into it before).

These (open lap/HPDE) evnets are not about racing. A group at summit this weekend was nearly tossed out for competing against one another. I assure you the same would happen there.

 

I would call beaveRun and ask them about their HPDE on open lap days. I know the one they did way back on March 15 was a school and 1st timers were ok. They even had them doing drills with cones all over the corse and what not. However RJ has a good point, they might not be doing this anymore. In that case I would sign up for a NASA event, were new comers are allways ok.

 

im actaully friends with an instructor at beaver. yes i know that you cant actually "RACE" at an open lapping day. they do point n pass only on the front and back straights.

i was at the march 15th event to watch, but i didnt want to participate because i still had my stock motor.

ive talked to two of the main partners who own Beaverun and they encouraged me to come out even if ive never been on a race track. they said it would be a great learning experience since its not actually wheel to wheel.

Its not competition. Doesnt matter what motor/suspension you have/dont have - its about learning. I passed some pretty "fast" cars last year on street tires and stock suspension, and some cars "slower" than me rolled me hard too.

 

yeah, you dont need a fast car to be fast on a track, but my motor was not running very good at the time. it was leaking oil enough that i thought it might be a tech concern.

which car were you driving in the event? i talked to a lot of the drivers that day.

 

&lt;---- got passed by on old man in a Audi wagon this weekend at summit, Doh! hehe, actually I got passed by every, but still had fun.

ive been talking to a few of my friends, and a couple of them said the would definately go to either of the september or the october ones. that works for me as well. i need to do a few more little things before i consider my car track worthy.

monroeville is about an hour or so away i think. im from the north hills and it takes me about 45 minutes to get there.

beaver also holds autoX twice a month which i plan on attending as soon as my Azenis's come in.
